Since 2006, the Henley Passport Index 

has been recording the world’s most 

travel-friendly passports. Based on data 

provided by the International Air Transport 

Association, the list covers 227 travel 

destinations. 

The countries with the top passports are 

Japan and Singapore. In theory, holders of 

these passports can travel visa-free or 

visa-on-arrival to 192 destinations. 

Afghanistan and Iraq score the lowest of 

the 199 passports on the list. Afghan 

nationals can only access 26 countries 

and Iraqis can only access 28. 

The U.K. and the U.S. last held the number

 one spot back in 2014 and are now 7th. 

Holders of these passports can access 

185 destinations. 

There is a growing concern that northern 

countries are using COVID-19 travel 

restrictions to slow down immigration 

from southern countries. 

Christian H. Kaelin, the creator of the 

passport list concept, said that if we want 

to improve the global economy, it is 

critical that developed nations encourage 

immigration instead of trying to stop it.

ー2021年、最も旅に適したパスポートは？ー

2006年以来、ヘンリー・パスポート・インデックスは、世界で最も旅行しやすいパスポートを記録しています。国際航空運送協会から提供されたデータをもとに227の旅行先を対象としています。

上位のパスポートを持つ国は、日本とシンガポールです。これらのパスポートの保有者は、理論上、192の目的地にビザなしまたは到着時にビザを取得して旅行することができます。アフガニスタンとイラクは、リストに掲載された199のパスポートの中で最も低いスコアを出しています。アフガニスタン人は26カ国、イラク人は28カ国にしか行けません。

英国と米国は、2014年に1位を獲得した後、現在は7位となっています。これらのパスポートの保有者は185の目的地にアクセスできます。

北部の国がCOVID-19の渡航制限を利用して、南部の国からの移民を制限しているのではないかという懸念が高まっています。

パスポートリストのコンセプトを考案したChristian H. Kaelin氏は、世界経済を向上させたいのであれば、先進国が移民を止めようとするのではなく、移民を奨励することが重要だと述べています。
