Myanmar coup: US announces sanctions on leaders
ミャンマークーデター：アメリカがリーダーたちに政策を発表
US President Joe Biden has approved an executive order to impose sanctions on the leaders of Myanmar's coup.
アメリカ合衆国大統領バイデン氏はミャンマーのクーデターの首謀者に対し大統領命令を発令した。
The measures will be focused on military leaders, their family members and businesses linked to them.
この措置は軍の中心部、その家族また関連している企業に注視する。
Steps are also being taken to block access by the military to $1bn (£720m) of government funds held in the US.
アメリカにある10億ドル程の基金がミャンマー国軍の手に渡らないよう、防ぐ措置が行われている。
The sanctions come as a woman who was shot in the head during protests against the coup fights for her life at a hospital in the capital Nay Pyi Taw.
この措置は反クーデターのデモで女性が銃撃され、首都のネピドーで死闘している中発令された。

President Joe Biden announced he will sanction military leaders in Myanmar who directed the coup that deposed and detained its elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi, President Win Myint and others.
バイデン大統領はアウン・サン・スー・チー、ウィン大統領や他の当選者を勾留した軍の中心部に措置をする発表をした。
Biden also said the Myanmar’s “military must relinquish the power it seized” and release the coup’s prisoners.
バイデン氏は「ミャンマー国軍は奪い取った力を放棄しなければならない」と延べ、クーデターの収容者を解放しなければならない、と主張した。
“We will identify a first round of targets this week, and we’re also going to impose strong exports controls,” Biden said in announcing two new executive orders related to the sanctions.

Kyi’s National League for Democracy (NLD) won Myanmar’s democratic election in a landslide last fall. But generals behind the coup have claimed this election as fraudulent.

Suu Kyi aide among new wave of arrests in Myanmar as Biden approves sanctions

A close aide to ousted Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi was detained in a new wave of arrests following last week's military coup a party official said on Thursday, as Washington moved a step closer to imposing sanctions on the junta.

The aide, Kyaw Tint Swe, had served as minister for the office of the state counselor under Suu Kyi, who has been detained since the Feb. 1 coup.
