10/06/2024 水戸でなく、三戸だーーー！と言ってもわかってくれない。

僕の名字は三戸だ。
ほぼ100％の人が水戸だと思い込んでいる、確かに。
茨城の県庁所在地の水戸、水戸光圀公こと水戸黄門の水戸。
この「水戸」の知名度は圧倒的だから、“水戸でない！”と言っても仕方ないかもしれない、というか通じない。
なので間違われても目くじらをたてたことは一度もない。
僕は、授業後に生徒との添削用のノートやプリントに「三戸」を英語にもじった
「Three Doors」の印鑑でサインするようにしている。
結構、その印鑑のデザインが好評で、オリジナルなので気に入っている。
僕自身のロゴも「Three Doors」にしている。

ところで外国籍の名前の勘違いってあるのかな？
聞いたことないけど、あるのかもしれない、ないかもしれない。

My last name is Mito. Almost 100% of people assume it's Mito, as in "Mito," the capital city of Ibaraki Prefecture, and Mito Komon, also known as Tokugawa Mitsukuni. The name "Mito" is so well-known that even if I say "it's not Mito," it's understandable that people still don't get it. So, I’ve never made a fuss about people getting it wrong.
After class, I sign students’ notebooks and papers for corrections with a stamp that plays on "Mito" in English, reading "Three Doors." The design of the stamp has been quite well-received, and since it's original, I’m quite fond of it. I’ve also adopted "Three Doors" as my personal logo.
By the way, I wonder if there are any mix-ups when it comes to foreign names. I’ve never heard of any, but maybe there are, or maybe there aren’t.
