I got me thinking for a moment.

Not only because how revolutionary the product was and remember when my friend showing off the first iPod (2001) like it was yesterday.

But that this is one of the last devices is that was in production for a significant time period 2001-2022.
What product in the recent years can you pick up now and use without some limitation?
(Leave your answer in the comments)

Myself owned various versions of iPods over the years, from iPod mini (2004, (2005), iPod nano (2006) and iPod Photo (2004).
*I currently still use the iPod nano 2nd gen (Black) and iPod Photo (with a SSD mod).

I can pick up my iPod and it just works, but more and more devices have a time span of a few years. Either it’s due the non removable battery, or the software is no longer supported and apps no longer can be installed.

This emphasizes the importance of staying up to date, because before you know it, the device you are currently using is no longer supported and will require a big investment to get a replacement.

Investment as in financially but also in time. It requires a significant time to get up to date with technology after a time has passed since your last purchase.

I’ve experienced it myself, with my desktop (Mac Pro) machine that I made upgrades (CPU, RAM, GPU) on over the past years. Which is less and less supported. It runs great. But due to software limitations I no longer can update to the most recent version.

My production machine doesn't have this issues yet, but who knows how long this MacBook Pro will work.

Everything becomes lighter, more energy efficient, faster and I love it.

Don't become disliking technology because it has changed over the years. Instead frequently upgrade, look for a product to be one of the early adapters and keep in touch with the current and upcoming technologies, use it for your advantage and get excited about unforeseeable possibilities!

Let the iPod be what it is, it just works, get out there and stay updated.
