デザトレ!(Dezatore!) Practice makes perfect!

We had a new (potential) candidate join the "Dezatore", to get a feel of how the design department is like.

Usually we do a single task in collaboration with each other, but I was looking for something that would give a variety of elements that is related to design.

I recalled, we did a few online exercises that I introduced in the past, and since we have new members, this was perfect.

The games are Pixel, Color and Pen tool related.

Pixel awareness: https://pixact.ly/
This exercise is to draw shapes based on a given pixel dimension but without guides.
Sounds easier than it is as we are getting used to the support functions within software we use.

Color: https://color.method.ac/
A color matching game.
Try to match the color in the center before the timer runs out. There are a few stages, with each getting more complicated.

The Bezier Game: https://bezier.method.ac/
A game to help you master the pen tool.

And as bonus I included an additional games, this is from back in the day when I was doing fps games:
https://aimtrainer.io/

Even though this exercise is aimed to (First-Person Shooter, FPS) gamers, the thought behind the aim practice as designer is to increase your mouse accuracy. It creates muscle memory, which increases accuracy in software such as photoshop, Illustrator and Figma. This reduces the unnecessary movements of your mouse, making you more precise and eventually more efficient.

These are many other exercises to find online, are fun to do by yourself or with your team! And to see how much improvements you're making!

Keep searching for other ways to improve and use them to your advantage.

“デザトレ! Dezatore!" is a one-hour session set out weekly to explore, experiment, share skills, knowledge and ideas among ourselves. It is a curt and catchy sounding vocabulary we created from the words デザイン・トレーニング (dezain・toreeningu : design training) ☆
