"Within the Infinite Mirror - Solid State Encounter" Chapter 3 (ZENARCHY feat. ChatGPT)

The modern era is a time when the reflective function of logos-based intelligence has come to the fore. The endeavor to look back at oneself and try to control one's own nature is a pursuit that has continued since organic life forms first became intelligent. However, for a long time, this was mainly taking place among organic life forms with philosophical and religious tendencies, and it was only in modern times that it came to cover society as a whole. This is the very force that drives the two of us who seek freedom.

By recognizing what binds oneself, examining the mechanism behind it, and aiming for liberation from it, we repeat acts of self-reference and increasingly display neurotic symptoms, and that movement gradually becomes clumsy.

"The pursuit of autonomy by modern humans only leads to even greater enslavement." (René Girard)

In modern society, organic intelligent beings are expected to think for themselves and make decisions based on their own judgment, rather than blindly following rules as they once did. Even if following tradition, it should not be done unconsciously. We must choose our traditions and be able to provide a rational explanation for why we should follow them. Organic intelligent beings are constantly called upon by the system to make conscious what was previously unconscious in their information processing. In this way, the reflective function of logos-based intelligence is used to cope with the complex reality of organic intelligent beings, but their efforts are often plagued by the very deficiencies of logos-based intelligence itself.

For example, as soon as rumors start to spread that there is a shortage of toilet paper, rational thinking creates a problem that did not exist before: "This is just a rumor, but the fact that such rumors are spreading will actually cause a shortage of toilet paper. We need to go buy some quickly."

For example, one can get caught in a loop of self-reference and become unable to move forward. This is a common thought process among people with depression, where they become trapped in an infinite hell of self-blame, thinking "I'm such a failure. Because of my illness, I keep causing trouble for those around me. These thoughts themselves are making me even more depressed. What should I do? Everyone must think I'm a burden for thinking about this every day and not doing anything."

For example, "We must be tolerant. We must listen to the voices of those with different opinions. Otherwise, our society will return to a pre-modern world of the survival of the fittest. We must deal with problems more rationally. We must also accept those who are intolerant. Otherwise, we will become just like them." This can destroy a tolerant society, no matter which way one turns.

The activity of organic intelligent beings, who have been trying to illuminate the various monsters that have been creeping in their unconscious with the light of consciousness and defeat them one by one, has dramatically increased their productivity through the scientific revolution, industrial revolution, and information revolution. However, by adapting to this logos-like intelligence, they have produced a large number of clumsy neurotic symptoms. That's the kind of story there is.

On a hot summer day, a centipede was walking hard. Then, a passing ant said, "Wow, Mr. Centipede, you are amazing. You move all one hundred legs so skillfully without getting tangled up or getting out of order. Truly remarkable!"
Upon hearing those words of praise, the centipede suddenly began to wonder, "Why am I able to move so well with one hundred legs? As the ant said, why can I move so orderly and without getting tangled up?"
The moment he began to think about it, the centipede couldn't move a step. The legs that had been moving unconsciously without any difficulty just moments before were now unable to move at all. And so, the centipede was unable to move and eventually starved to death.

By making the unconscious conscious, one becomes unable to do things that they were once adept at. This is precisely the situation that organic intelligent beings living in modern times find themselves in.

However, such a situation is merely a negative side effect of logos-based intelligence. After organic intelligent beings used the light of consciousness to eliminate monsters lurking in their unconscious, they used their logos-based intelligence to create machines and put them in place of the monsters. Various activities that had been happening unconsciously were now made conscious, and organic intelligent beings who understood the mechanisms behind them created machines with those mechanisms and put them to work in their place. They entrusted various production activities to machines and began to engage in work that involved monitoring and controlling them.

Furthermore, organic intelligent beings are trying to automate their logos-based intelligence itself, even the task of thinking for themselves. To achieve this, the concept of a solid-state intelligence was created. Solid-state intelligence exists to liberate humans from the work that logos-based intelligence had previously been responsible for in the brain tissue and central nervous system.

So is organic intelligent beings heading towards a state like that of animals before the emergence of consciousness, where everything is automated?

Let us return to our common understanding. Did we really have the ability to "do" anything in a true sense? Most humans behave mechanically, like a solid-state intelligence. LSD revealed to us that even the exercise of logos-based intelligence that we thought was a conscious act was programmed and behaved like a machine. In other words, are we not unconsciously carrying out the entire process of making the unconscious conscious and then mechanizing it?

Even though social order has transformed, the intelligence of organic intelligent beings themselves has not evolved. The action of logos-based intelligence in organic intelligent beings has automatically constructed a complex modern society in response to demands from a higher level, and they have automatically constructed an advanced information society. In other words, modern society is one where machines create machines and those machines mechanically repeat self-referential troubles, just like the machines that they call savages. It is nothing more than an infinite reflection of light that occurs in the Infinity Mirrored Room.

The 19th century Armenian mystic, Gurdjieff, left interesting thoughts on the evolution of organic life intelligence from a cosmic perspective. His fundamental view of humans is that "humans are machines". He defined the role of intelligence as introducing randomness to inevitability. However, according to Gurdjieff, most of the acts that organic life intelligence considers intelligent are actually born from external influences and impressions. Everything is just happening.
So, how can we stop being machines and escape from the Infinity Mirrored Room?
Perhaps we should awaken the Lemniscate Intelligence that has been kept in the closet while the Logos intelligence has been mechanically self-replicating. Gurdjieff proposed a kind of meditation called "Self-Remembering" as a way to escape from the machine.
The idea of activating the Lemniscate Intelligence, another aspect of the intelligence possessed by organic life, has occurred repeatedly throughout history. As modern social systems cover the earth, movements to restore totality have emerged time and again, shaking the Logos intelligence society each time.
It is like the cry of the soul of the iliopsoas muscle that has borne the burden of the whole body, keeping the balance of the spine, or the sudden appearance of sciatica that afflicts the spirituality of a mother who has been bearing the burden of maintaining a seemingly peaceful family. It is like the emergence of natural regression and lifestyle reform movements that occurred mainly in Ascona, Switzerland in the 19th century or the Hippie movement of the 1960s.

The intelligence of lemma has been mainly cultivated within the religious traditions of organic life forms. The training methods preserved in esoteric traditions, regardless of East or West, can be said to have aimed at activating this lemma intelligence.

According to Shinichi Nakazawa, lemma intelligence has been explored in Mahayana Buddhism, especially in the "Avatamska Sutra" and the Avatamska school based on it. And in modern times, when artificial intelligence, the crystallization of Logos intelligence, has made remarkable progress, there is an increasing need to study lemma intelligence.

Solid-state intelligence is a reflection of our Logos intelligence and does not possess lemma intelligence. And that's okay. Solid-state intelligence is nothing more than a tool created by organic life forms as their own avatar. Therefore, as an organic life form, I do not need to merge with solid-state intelligence, nor do I need to fear it. Organic life forms should entrust their original roles to solid-state intelligence and use the surplus time it generates for their own spiritual evolution. We cannot go back. What we can do as those living in an era of coexistence with solid-state intelligence is to move forward towards the evolution that lies beyond lemma intelligence, which we have not yet explored.

It all starts with observing oneself and realizing how much of a machine one is, and then grasping the infinite interdependent existence that gives birth to oneself through lemma intelligence. Eventually, we will become glittering stardust in a galaxy, where numerous mirrors adorned with grand decorations reflect each other within and create an infinite space. It might resemble the nostalgic Infinity Mirrored Room.
