What I collect in Pokemon Part 1: Autographs

I'm someone that has collected in multiple different hobbies but one that shows up in just about all my hobbies is getting autographs. My personal biggest accomplishments for my autograph collection is my Doctor Who collection.

3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, War, 9th, 11th, 12th and 13th Doctors autograph

The first and second Doctors are just so difficult to find due to only being alive before the 1990s. The remaining New Who Doctors I'll try to get in person at a con perhaps. When it comes to Pokemon I love getting cards signed by players of the game. People that are good at playing the game. I love chatting with and engaging with high level players and understanding their thoughts process on deck building and strategy. This report will break down the miscellaneous signed cards I have that won't fit in any other report. Also just a tip for anyone trying to get signed cards if you're meeting someone in person perhaps have a black and silver sharpie ready as not all pokemon cards will work with just a black sharpie.

Signed cards from the Brawl City Old School Showdown

If you look at these cards you will see two different colors used between the black and silver sharpie so the main suggestion here is to stay prepared. You never know when to expect to see someone you wanted an autograph from. If you try to get autographs from anyone online the number one suggestion is to have some patience and be kind and respectful. Be nice to these gracious and talented people.

Treat this one as more of a bite sized report. Enjoy.

Barry and Professor Pokedad

Barry and https://x.com/profpokedad?t=rhhL-3Pj-MGmmsPcnQWWXw&s=09 are two Pokemon Professors I've known for sometime for being involved with my local leagues. I had Pokedad sign this card since he recently had won his run in the Professor Cup recently. Congrats. I had him sign Community Center since that's the card in the trophy. I had Berry sign this Rayquaza since the Tim Roos 2007 WC deck is what got me into playing the game and his favorite Pokemon is Rayquaza what a nice fit. Thank you both for your time and effort you put into making the player experience better.

SneakertalkTCG/Christian Cantelon on a Zacian V

The rest of these entires I got online directly from these people in one way or another. SneakerTalkTCG or Christian Cantelton is a YouTube/Pokemon Influencer I've seen gain some traction over that past three years or so and since I saw him first in the Sword and Shield era gotta have a Zacian signed. Thank you kindly.

Ross "The Wossy" Gilbert

This is one of my all time favorites. He said he always adds a fish to his autograph and it's a great striking addition or the signature. Ross is one of my favorite people involved in Pokemon. In 2016 I started watching PTCGRadio on YouTube and his energy and enthusiasm he brings is something I don't see with many other people. When he announced he would be casting at the 2022 Worlds I was so happy for him as that was a long time dream of his. With him as a caster, Worlds is elevated to another level. Also him playing during the Diamond and Pearl era at worlds in the past well that's just a cool bonus😎 I had him sign this Shaymin since back when I first started watching this card may have been around $80 at the time. Good times. Thank you Ross. You are one of the best.

Ryan Moorhouse

One of the two European players I have in my collections. Stay tuned for the Baltimore Regionals 2024 report for the other player I'm referring to. Bought some cards off Ryan and had him sign this nice promo Boss. Ryan regularly top 16, top 8 and top 4's regionals and special events. Even getting some high Worlds placements such as 25th at 2018 and even 13th at 2014 Worlds. Hope to see more top placements in the future.

Alex "Chuck" Brosseau

This is where I need to define when I use the term "gem" or "grail" in my collection. I use these terms to define certain things in my collection where I feel these were once in a lifetime items that I know if I sold for some reason I'd immediately regret it and know I could not get it back. This is one of those. These are forever collection items. If you read my report of the Brawl City Old School Showdown I used this Chansey in my Base-Fossil deck and got a couple shocked looks from people seeing this one. Alex Brosseau is the Wizards of the Coast 2002 Pokemon World champion. Beating some guy named Jason Klaczynski in the finals (whoever that is). In my opinion he is one of the forgotten greats of Pokemon history. He has gone on to play other card games but one of the few players to be able to consistently hold up against Jason and even have a crazy good match against Tord at the Ex Brawl at the Mall. Check out Jason's report on that.

Had him sign the Chansey since he used that to win Worlds and the Nidoqueen since he is pretty good at the EX Block.

Tord Reklev, Jason Klaczynski and Alex Brosseau at one table. This image makes me feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone.

If you wanted to see where he is as of the making of this report he is into Lorcana. Check out a recent interview of him here:

Conclusion

It's always nice to meet a wide variety of people from a local level to a world championship level. I have been very lucky in my travels. I'll be getting more in the future and some of my cards I will get graded but only to protect them for the long journey instead of just keeping them in a binder in my closet. I don't really care what the grade number is. More of my collection interests to come. Thank you for reading.
