この文章に前から気になっていた単語があります。
“landfall”です。
前後関係から初見で意味は分かりました。
また、その後、YoutubeのNewsでも何度か耳にしました。
英英辞典を引くと次の通りです。
landfall (n.)
1. an arrival at land on a sea or air journey.
2. a collapse of a mall land; a landslide
「2」の意味は字面のままなので分かりやすいと思います。
しかし、「1」はどうでしょう。
googleで語源を検索すると、何となく答えが分かりました。
“Etymology landfall”と入力するとイロイロ情報が出てきます。
