"INSTINCTOY" has a policy of limiting production to ensure that the level of modeling and coloring does not drop, so that they can deliver the best products to their customers. The designer, Mr. Okubo, is a graduate of the Tokyo University of the Arts, and he has incorporated many artistic techniques into each of his SOFUBI figures that captivate the viewer. For example, his debut work, "INK", was designed to make the viewer look slightly upward in order to make it look cuter, and by using a lot of curved surfaces, he has
created a SOFUBI that makes you want to pick it up.

When I look at the Instagram of people overseas, I see that people are starting to enjoy SOFUBI as art. Of course, you can carry them around and play with them, but they are not easily broken, and they also have a lot of appeal as works of art that you can easily touch.

I think that SOFUBI can be used as art, a toy, an interior decoration, a collection, etc. The fact that the same character can have a completely different appeal depending on the coloring technique is the part that is profound and gives me a sense of potential.

The name "INSTINCTOY" seems to have been coined from a combination of the English words "instinct" and "toy". The word "instinct" seems to have the meaning of "satisfying one's desires and enhancing oneself," and "INSTINCTOY" was was combined to express the wish to sell toys that can increase the value of the people who own them is what "INSTINDTOY" is all about.

It's "instinct". We are made by instinct, and we buy by instinct.

As for the "instinct" part, Mr. Okubo has always been a collector who loves SOFUBI, and as a designer who also has knowledge of art, he says that his standard for creating works is what he truly wants. So the combination of the collector's objective point of view, a solid sense of art, and uncompromising craftsmanship makes for a very attractive work that attracts the viewer.

And there are 10 different original characters that have been commercialized. All of them seem to have one thing in common: they are all parasitic and turn to mush. The work "parasite" is an important word in INSTINCTOY.

It's cute, but it has some poisonousness, it's cute, but it also has coolness, and so on, and I feel that the fascination is increasing by crossing the two strong things.

It's a famous story, but Mr. Okubo was quite shocked by Venom from Spider-Man 3, which he saw a long time ago, and he was convinced that a figure that combines "cute" and "poisonous" would definitely sell. It's amazing that he was able to combine two opposing elements in a perfect balance and at a high level. And I think one of the charms is that the poison has a dangerous dependency that makes you want it again.
