"Shakokitachi" of Science Patrol! Original SOFUBI inspired by monsters, ghosts and other weird stuff! A unique world, created by Corey!
This time, I'd like to introduce you to a SOFUBI figure of "Shakoki Dogu"!
The artist is Corey Privitera, who is active in the name of [Science Patrol]!
Foreigner!
Here's the SOFUBI this time! This set of 3 is great!
It is unique and interesting that there are three types of "Shakoki Dogus", which is also unique to [Science Patrol]. Corey is insanely fond of Japanese special effects and anime, and is a very attractive creator who came to Japan alone in 2014 and is making various works full of love for Japan.
I would like to introduce SCIENCE PATROL's "Shakoki Dogus", which made its debut in the US and Japan in April 2020.
And it seems that [Science Patrol] actually has a connection with the "Tomenosuke Shoten" of Gero Onsen in Gifu Prefecture, which is a strange connection, and Gero Onsen is a famous hot spring resort in Gifu Prefecture, next to Aichi Prefecture!
In the first place, I was surprised that there is a toy store called "Tomenosuke
Shoten" in Gero Onsen, so I definitely would love to visit there!
Gero Onsen is close by and easy to get to, so I used to go there a lot.
[Tomenosuke Shoten] is a shop owned by science fiction film critic: Shinji Nakako and is always open. Gero may actually be an irresistible spot for creator's SOFUBI and hot spring lovers.
Introducing: "Shakokitachi"! Set of 3!
[Science Patrol] creates original SOFUBI inspired by monsters, ghosts and other weird stuff! All of their SOFUBIs are Made in Japan.
And here, again, with SCIENCE PATROL's "Shakoki Dogu", which debuted in the US and Japan in April 2020!
After all, you want a set of 3 "Shakokitachi" with same coloring. SCIENCE PATROL's concept is unique, high quality and inexpensive, and I think it is a wonderful product that has all triple beat.
The "Shakokitachi" is based on the motif of Shakoki Dogu (clay figurine), and while incorporating modern art elements, they are further reproduced in SOFUBI!
Prayers, little Jomon artifacts to help you! That's what it must be!
Artifact means: "artificial thing. Made by human hands", and it feels like a small piece of art!
And it's also nice to know that it was made by someone from another country!
I think it is very interesting that people from overseas are making SOFUBI versions of historical Japanese objects. I think it's very interesting that you can make 3 different types of "Shakoki", using the first one.
So, I'd like to actually see the modeling and coloring here,
first of all, the one eye, two eyes and three eyes are characteristic. This is
characteristic, too, that the shape of their heads are slightly different, all 3 of
them!
I like the simplicity of this one, don't you? I've seen pictures of other "Shakoki-
tachi", and they are painted quite simply, but it's nice to see how cute and
mysterious they are.
Although it is simple, the three-dimensional molding that has got likeness of
Shakoki and the fine patterns on the body parts are very nice. There are a variety of colors available, from fashionable colors like this one, to colors that remind you of real bronze or ceramics, which have been smudged for a more realistic finish.
Here's what it looks like alongside the header!
I'm curious about this girl... I'm also curious about the face on the monitor
behind.
I wonder...
"Shakokitachi" is:
Three different Shakoki Dogus with an ever increasing (or decreasing) number of eyes. The patron buddy of archaeology and research, these little guys will stare at you blankly while you work on your thesis about Pre-Clovis civilization or hang out while you play Animal Crossing with your significant other.
The Clovis culture begins at the end of the Late Glacial period, from 13000 B.P. (a layer called the Clovis formation) according to radiocarbon dating...
In short, it's the stone culture of the Native Americans!
It says something that seems to be difficult, but while playing Animal Crossing, it means that it already exists with the intention, isn't it...? It's quite maniacal setting, but Corey's love of anime and games is uniquely expressed in the header and setting.
[Science Patrol] has produced a wide variety of SOFUBI products in addition to the "Shakokitachi"!
Burger SOFUBI "CRANSTON"
Skeleton "WILD HUNTS"
Kaiju of Melon Pan "MELON PAN MONSTER"
And there is "Tsuchinoko" and "Namazu", also he loves special effects, and
Tsuburaya's characters have been copyrighted and produced.
And then there's Gacha!
There were miniature "Shakokitachi" exclusive to the Hakaba no Garo (Graveyard Gallery), as well as "Amabie"! The SOFUBI that fit in the palm of your hand are cute!
I also talk about it in detail on YouTube
