作曲ノート
曲名と楽器編成から、この作品の意図するところを汲み取っていただけると思う。
西洋楽器と邦楽器とがそれぞれに背負う音や音楽の質、その音楽を成り立たせる言語構造や文脈は、まったくちがっている。私がつくりたいのは、両者のちがいをただ対比して見せる音楽でも、わざと均して扱う音楽でもない。ちがいの奥にある、各々の音楽をその音楽たらしめる「いのち」を見きわめ、その「いのち」がそのまま縦横無尽に、存分に躍動しながら、互いに互いの表になり裏になり、支え合い、共生して、ひとつの形をさがしていく…、そんな音楽である。
そういう音楽を試行錯誤しながら、自分の生を確かめ、洋の東西もない、音や音楽の普遍性や核心に迫ろうとするのが、私の作曲である。
Composer's note
I believe the title and instrumentation will ascribe my intentions for this work, Falling Leaves Moon Steps.
The sounds and musical qualities maintained by Western and Japanese instruments and the linguistic structures and contexts that comprise their music are entirely different. What I want to create is not music that merely contrasts these differences or one that intentionally equalizes them. I seek to discover the "life" behind the differences that make each music what it is and to find a form of music in which the "life" of each music is fully alive, moving freely in all its directions, becoming front and back of each other, supporting each other, and living together in symbiosis.
My compositions are an attempt to confirm my own life while experimenting with this kind of music and to approach the universality and core of sound and music both in the East and the West.
