博士課程を修了して大学教員を。

　１年間の授業や採点といった仕事がすべて終わりました。後は卒業式に参加すれば今年度の行事はほぼこなしたことになります。思えばあっという間の１年間でしたが、振り返ればとても充実していたと思います。改めて大学教員になってよかったなと１８連勤明けの休みにしみじみと感じています。

　さて、もともとこの記事を書こうと思ったのは、私が大学教員になるために経験したことが少しでも役に立てばと考えたからです。しかし、大学教員になってから超多忙の毎日が続いたことと、あまりにも大学教員になった喜びを素直に伝えたくて余計なことばかり書いていました。

　しかし、記憶があるうちに大学教員になったプロセスを書き残しておきたいと思います。まず、みなさんに伝えたいことは博士課程はできる限り取った方がよいということです。実は私が採用された大学では、私以外に２人新規採用されました。ところが、その２人はいずれも修士課程しか修了しておらず、現在働きながら博士課程を取りに行ってます。そのことが理由かどうか定かではないですが、私から見ると学生に接する機会を意図的に制限しているように見えます。当然大学教員にとって研究は重要な仕事なので、その時間確保のために学生と過ごす時間をコントロールすることは大事です。しかし、博士論文を作成するための研究と大学教員としての研究は少し差異があるように思います。一番の大きな違いは博士論文は審査に通るための論文を作成しなければならないという点です。審査に通るということは、審査員である主査と副査の先生に認めてもらえるような内容にしなければならないという制約条件が発生するのです。これに対して研究は真実の追究なので、自分の関心領域をとことん深めていくことが求められます。私は研究の神髄はここにあると考えています。

　私の知り合いでも教員をしながら博士課程を取りに行っている人はたくさんいますので、あまりそのことは否定できないですのでが、やはりその姿勢は自ずと学生に伝わっているようです。私としてはこの記事を参考にされている人には、ぜひ博士課程を修了して堂々と学生の前に立ってほしいと願います。

　そして、博士課程は無料で取得できる大学があります。ですから、どんな状況であってもやる気があれば取得できます。私は大学生の時に大学院に行きたいと思ってから約２０年かけて博士になり、今大学教員になっています。思えば就職氷河期世代で寒い冬を２０年以上耐えてきました。決して、今も裕福な生活を送れている訳ではないですが、ありのままの自分で生きることができるようになったことにとても感謝しています。まさに冬の寒さから居心地のよい春の毎日を過ごしているようで、今でも夢ではないと疑うこともあります。

　これから季節は春に向かいますが、みなさんにも心地よい春風が吹くことを願ってやみません。

Complete the doctoral course and become a college teacher.

One year of class work and scoring are all done. After that, if you participate in the graduation ceremony, you will have almost completed the event this year. It was a quick year if I thought back, but looking back it was very fulfilling. I am grateful that I became a college teacher again, and I feel that I am absent from the break after 18 consecutive working days. 

By the way, I originally wanted to write this article because I wanted to help me a little bit of what I had to do to become a college teacher. However, I wrote all that was super busy every day since I became a college teacher, and I just wanted to convey the joy of becoming a college teacher so honestly that I had to do extra work. 

However, I want to write down the process of becoming a college teacher while I have memories. First of all, I want to tell you that you should take the doctoral course as much as possible. In fact, at the college where I was hired, two other people were hired besides me. However, both of them have only completed the master's program and are currently working and going for the doctoral course.  I'm not sure why this is the case, but from my point of view, it seems that I'm deliberately limiting my chances to interact with students.  Naturally, research is an important job for faculty members. And it's important to control the time you spend with students to secure research time.  However, there seems to be a slight difference between research for creating a doctoral dissertation and research as a university faculty member.  The biggest difference is that doctoral dissertations have to be prepared to pass the review. Passing the judging imposes a restriction that it must be written in such a way that the judge's teacher can approve it.  On the other hand, research is the pursuit of the truth, so you need to deepen your area of interest.  I believe the essence of research is here.

 Many of my acquaintances go to doctoral courses while working as faculty members, so I can't deny that much, but it seems that their attitude has been transmitted to students. I hope that anyone who has read this article will have successfully completed the doctoral program and stood proudly in front of the students. 

And there are universities where doctoral programs can be obtained free of charge. So you can get it in any situation if you are motivated.  I have been a doctor for about 20 years since I wanted to go to graduate school when I was a university student, and I am now a college teacher. If you think about it, you have endured a cold winter for more than 20 years in the employment ice age generation. I can't live a wealthy life, but I'm very grateful that I can now live on my own. It seems like you are living in a cozy spring every day from the cold winter, and you may still suspect that it is not a dream.
