IELTSライティングタスク２イントロダクションの書き方

今回はライティングタスク２のイントロダクションの書き方について記事にしてみました。

IELTSライティングタスク２のイントロダクションで書くべきことはたったの2つ。

①説明文の言い換え
②課題に対する回答

です。

それぞれ詳しく見ていきましょう。

説明文と課題とは

IELTSタスク２には2文～3文程度の以下のような問題文が書かれています。

タスク２問題文の例

Some people believe that one of the best ways to solve environmental problem is to increase the cost of fuel for cars and other vehicles.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

問題文は①説明文と②課題の２つのパートに分けることができます。

説明文とは
・ライティングテーマの説明
・課題の前に書かれている文章
・内容は問題文によって異なる
(ある立場からの１つの意見、２つの異なる意見、ある社会問題の現状など)


課題とは
・ライティングで回答すべき内容
　例
   To what extent do you agree or disagree?
   Discuss both views and give your own opinion. など

・課題タイプは5種類
    Opinion Essay
    Discussion Essay

    Advantage and Disadvantage Essay

説明文と課題に分けてみよう

説明文と課題が何か明確になったところで、
ライティングタスク２の問題文を説明文と課題に分けてみましょう。

例1
Some people believe that one of the best ways to solve environmental problems is to increase the cost of fuel for cars and other vehicles.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

説明文：Some people believe that one of the best ways to solve environmental problems is to increase the cost of fuel for cars and other vehicles.
課題：To what extent do you agree or disagree?

More and more plastic waste is polluting cities, countryside, and oceans worldwide. What problems does it cause? What are the solutions?

説明文：More and more plastic waste is polluting cities, countryside, and oceans worldwide.
課題：What problems does it cause? What are the solutions?

例3
Some people think children have the freedom to make mistakes, while others believe that adults should prevent children from making mistakes.
Discuss both sides and give your opinion.

説明文：Some people think children have the freedom to make mistakes, while others believe that adults should prevent children from making mistakes.
課題：Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

①説明文の言い換え

イントロダクションはエッセイの導入部です。
ここで、読者にはボディを読む前の準備をしてもらう必要があります。

その準備の1つとして、ライティングテーマを簡潔に伝えます。
そこで、ライティングテーマが書かれている説明文の言い換えをします。

説明文の言い換えの例を見てみましょう。

例1
説明文：Some people believe that one of the best ways to solve environmental problems is to increase the cost of fuel for cars and other vehicles.

説明文の言い換え：People suggest that increasing the price of fuels, including cars, is the best way to solve environmental problems.

例2
説明文：More and more plastic waste is polluting cities, countryside, and oceans worldwide.

説明文の言い換え：Plastic waste is a major source of pollution in cities, rural areas and oceans around the world.

例3
説明文：Some people think children have the freedom to make mistakes, while others believe that adults should prevent children from making mistakes.

説明文の言い換え：While some believe that children are free to make mistakes, others assume that adults should play a role in preventing children from making mistakes.

説明文を言い換える際のNG行為

①説明文をコピーする

説明文は自分の言葉で同じ意味を持つように書き直す必要があります。
コピーした言葉は自分のものではなく、採点官はそれを評価しません。
コピーせずに文章全体の意味が変わらないように、言い換えましょう。

②説明文に書かれていないことを書く

説明文に書かれていない内容を書く必要はありません。
むしろ、書かれていない詳細設定や状況を自分で作り出すことで、課題への回答ができていないとみなされ、減点されることがあります。

説明文の言い換えは、あくまでも原文に忠実に。を心がけましょう。

②課題に対する回答

説明文の言い換えをしたら、次に課題に対する回答を明確にします。
これは採点基準のTask Response課題への回答 をしていることを
採点官にアピールするためです。

採点官はあなたの課題に対する答えを探しています。

したがって、採点官が答えを見つけやすいように分かりやすく、明確に書きましょう。これにより、採点官は簡単に課題への回答を見つけられます。

課題に対して明確に回答をすると以下のような文章になります。

Some people believe that one of the best ways to solve environmental problem is to increase the cost of fuel for cars and other vehicles. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

課題に対する回答の例
… I totally agree with this since higher fuel costs can incentivize people to use more environmentally friendly modes of transportation and reduce their overall carbon footprint.

どの程度賛成か反対かを聞かれているため、
完全に賛成であること、そしてその理由をここで簡潔に述べています。

例2
More and more plastic waste is polluting cities, countryside, and oceans worldwide. What problems does it cause? What are the solutions?

課題に対する回答の例
… This causes serious health risks, and improved waste management is needed to address the issue.

どんな問題を引き起こすか？解決策は何であるか？を聞いています。

これらの２つの質問に対して、
どんな問題を引き起こすか？→健康被害が起きる
解決策は何であるか？→廃棄物管理を改善する

と明確に課題に回答しています。

Some people think children have the freedom to make mistakes, while others believe that adults should prevent children from making mistakes. Discuss both sides and give your opinion.

課題に対する回答の例
… Although children should not be restricted in their behaviour, I believe that in some cases, adults are responsible for preventing children from being in danger.

2つの意見の立場に立ち、その意見の理由を述べ、自分の意見も明確に述べられています。明確に課題に回答しています。

イントロダクションの例
As a solution to the environmental problem, some people argue that an increase in the price of fuel for vehicles, including cars, is the most effective way to solve the problem. I totally agree with this since higher fuel costs can incentivize people to use more environmentally friendly modes of transportation and reduce their overall carbon footprint.

例2
More and more plastic waste is polluting cities, country sides, and oceans on the world. What problems does it cause? What are the solutions?

イントロダクションの例
Plastic waste is a major source of pollution in cities, rural areas and oceans around the world. This causes serious health risks, and improved waste management is needed to address the issue.

例3
Some people think children have the freedom to make mistakes, while others believe that adults should prevent children from making mistakes.
Discuss both sides and give your opinion.

イントロダクションの例
While some believe that children are free to make mistakes, others assume that adults should play a role in preventing children from making mistakes.　Although children should not be restricted in their behaviour, I believe that in some cases, adults are responsible for preventing children from being in danger.

イントロダクションを書く際の注意点

①エッセイのイントロダクションは通常35～50語で十分

イントロダクションに時間をかけすぎず、本文に時間を使いましょう。
かけても2分程度で回答を完成させましょう。

②イントロダクションは最後に書く

コンピュータベースで受験される方は特に、イントロダクションから書き始める必要はありません。

イントロダクションは書く内容が決まっているため、文章を書くのにそれほど時間がかかりません。

一方でボディパラグラフは語数が多く、一番採点基準に影響する箇所でもあるので、まずはボディパラグラフに時間をかけて回答することがおススメです。
