おおよそ、大祭司が立てられるのは、供え物やいけにえをささげるためにほかならない。したがって、この大祭司もまた、何かささぐべき物を持っておられねばならない。

For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this high priest also have something to offer.

信仰者は、イエス・キリストが自分自身を完全な捧げものとして十字架の上で死なれ、
人類の贖いがなされたと信じています。
Believers believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross as the perfect offering of Himself
and the redemption of mankind.
この聖句は、大祭司の役割が、神への捧げ物を通して、人々の罪を贖うことにあると述べています。そして、イエス・キリストもまた、私たちの大祭司として、神への捧げ物が必要であると示唆しています。
