What were problems of AFC Bournemouth against Everton?
I analyzed this game and found 2 problems which need to solve asap below.
Problem1: AFC Bournemouth couldn’t win the ball by their high pressing
Problem2: When they build up their own third, don’t need to place CH into CB
Let me explain in detail below.
Problem1: AFC Bournemouth couldn’t win the ball by their high pressing
Everton prefer to play direct football than positional football like Man City. They skip their defensive third and middle third by pinging the ball up the field to final third. Because of this long-ball style of play, AFC Bournemouth couldn’t win the ball by high pressing and counterattack.
Problem2: When they build up their own third, don’t need to place CH into CB
When they conceded first goal, it was obviously individual mistake of Zabarnyi. But is it true?
I analyzed why Zabarnyi under strong pressure by Everton’s player. The reason is structure of their build up play.
Normally, when they build up, 2CB stand wide. Then between two CBs, one CH down and distribute the ball from behind like below.
In this situation, the problem is “distance”. CH place between 2CBs, among 3players distance is so narrow and it’s easy for opponents to press.
In order to solve this problem, I suggest when they build up, they should remove CH from CB place.
It can create time and also increasing numbers of players forward.
How can AFC Bournemouth turn around the situation
AFC Bournemouth’s typical attacking style is side attack. On the other side, side attack is so easy to shield once completed retreat. In this game, most of Iraola’s attacking were from side. It’s obviously to introduce pattern of different attacking pattern. I strongly suggest break through the center line.
If they can adapt new option, they can penetrate opponent retreat block.
SAKARINYO EYES
I am absolutely sure that Iraola’s football is so impressive that’s why I was so nervous that results so far.
If they want to win next game, they should introduce my two problems and solutions.
I hope they will win next match against Wolves.
