Last Minutes Masu

I live in a shared house with other five guys, two Iranian, one Filipino, one Mauritian and one more Japanese.

Since I had been worried about my previous job, I spoke that to the one Iranian guy whose name is Masu. He's a big guy and has a dauntless character. Then he shared his story with me about the annoying experience befalling him at his previous work in Australia.

He's currently working as a computer programmer as same as before. Before he got the current job, he quit the previous one after he worked there only in one day and 2 hours and thirty minutes. On his first day, Masu came late for work by 2 minutes. Once he entered the office, his supervisor came to him, showing his watch on his wrist to Masu and warned he wasn't supposed to late even in one minute.

According to Masu, he is not a graduate student but an experienced programmer even at that time so the time didn't matter for him. If a graduate student took two weeks to finish one project, Masu could complete the same project in two hours. So the two minutes late was not a problem for him but the result.

And the following day, unfortunately, he came late for work again because of a traffic jam. And as like yesterday, his supervisor was waiting for him, showing his watch to Masu and gave him a warning again.

When returning to the office after his lunch break, at the door Masu got his second yellow card for that day. Explaining the situation for his sake, Masu went to his lunch a bit later than he was supposed to go. As he went a bit late, he came back a bit late, but the boss didn't allow that. And the nasty guy said to Masu, "I said to you, you shouldn't be late even by one minute", then Masu faced squarely to that guy and said, "don't worry, this is my last minutes with you", and he left that job on his second day in two hours and thirty minutes.

I'm not saying his behavior was right or either wrong, but I'm certain his story encouraged me and feel better. To be honest, I was even impressed by his unwavering attitude and confidence.

Last Minutes Masu was here.
