Streets of Fire　～おすすめ映画～

「ストリート・オブ・ファイヤー」　1984年製作のアメリカ映画。原題は Streets of Fire。ロックンロールにバイオレンス、暴走するバイク、廃れた街にはびこるギャング集団、誘拐される美女・・・立ち向かうのは孤独なヒーロー、それを助けるタフ・ウーマンにダサ男・・・相思相愛なのに結ばれない二人。まさに「男の子」の夢とロマンが詰まった名作である。

監督はウォルター・ヒル。音楽担当はライ・クーダー。これはもう見るしかありません。

主演のマイケル・パレの代表作と言っても過言ではないし、ヒロイン役のダイアン・レインは美しすぎます。ただし歌の部分は吹き替え。ダイアン・レインが歌下手って訳じゃないんだろうけど、本職の歌手じゃないとこの迫力は出せないんだろうなぁ。

ラストシーンで流れる　「Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young」　オープニングシーンではアイドルっぽかった彼女が、大変身して最高の一曲を主人公のために歌い上げます。主人公がコンサート会場を立ち去る姿もかっこ良すぎ！

歌詞の中に

And if I can't get an angel

という部分があるけど、これがまさに彼女の心情そのもの。

夢に見た天使はいないけど、あなた（boy)ならいる
天使の次にあなたが大事→天使がいなくてもあなたがいれば大丈夫

歌として、一般の観客にとってはそんな意味なんだろうけど、この場面では違う。ラストシーン（0：40～）で主人公は「お前の住む世界におれの居場所はない」と彼女に別れを告げ、「必要な時はいつでも傍にいる」と言い残して去っていく。そんな主人公に向かって彼女は

「あなたは行ってしまうけど、私にはあなたがいる」（2：36～）

とメッセージを送っているのである。「私に男が出来ても、それはあなたの代わり。あなたが一番」といった現実的な解釈も出来るが、ロマンチストなwebmasterはこれを拒否します。
