My professional portrait featured in the trade media, “Magazine for International Communicators: Journal” (#IKAROS Publications Ltd.) in Japan.

I overcame my shyness and dared to contribute an article on an opening spread called “Voices of Translators and Interpreters around the World (= a title freely translated by me)”.

In the article, I wrote not only about myself but also about the German translation industry in general for upcoming linguists as its target readers.

Having over 20 years of career behind me, I feel a bit nostalgic in remembering my early days in Germany.

I hope that my experience will encourage a younger generation of aspiring translators and interpreters.

The publisher also asked me to write about cultural differences I encountered in my job. I felt compelled to write about German train services which, as a much travelled interpreter, annoy me a lot.
