(Belated) New Year's Resolution

I spent the holidays at the end of the year in Japan. It was a time for a happy family reunion, rest and recouperation. But it also gave me the opportunity to reflect on myself.

Last year marked a big change in my family life. My child moved out of the family home.

🤔 What next? Empty-nest syndrome?
Definitely not.

I witnessed that business traffic from Japan resumed on a large scale last year and so did the demand for my on-site interpreting service. I was on the road much more in the second half of 2023.

But one thing was different.
It used to be my long-standing habit to automatically pass any overnight assignments on to fellow interpreters. For one thing, using a local interpreter saves costs for clients. For another, it allowed me to stay at home where my domestic duties awaited me.

Now that nothing is standing in the way of me flying the nest, I stared to assume assignments in remote locations with an overnight stay.

Costs are not an issue for some clients or for some projects. I was flattered and honoured when a client specifically asked for me and insisted on having me at their negotiation table.

It turned out that I actually liked business travel and helping my clients on their international projects (apart from the distress caused by the catastrophic train services in Germany and Europe in general).
It boosted my ego to be asked for and appreciated as a professional. Therefore, I had no time to feel a sense of loss about not being in demand as a parent.

To cut a long story short, I came up with following New Year's resolution:
To widen my horizons by taking more cross-border assignments as an #interpreter .

When the right jobs come along, I am willing to travel beyond the border of the federal state of Germany. By happy coincidence, I have a right skill set and I am the right age. On top of that, I have a solid team of staff who can take care of my office during my absence.

So here is your chance to hire me as an expert from afar for your upcoming projects!

Self-praise is no match for client recommendations, that’s for sure. But unless I spread the word, nobody will notice that I am all ready to set off across the world.

👉 Just DM me (info@trans-sa.de) to check my availability for your next big meeting where you know you don’t want to take any chances.
