The Beatles Ballads
In 1980, an album of ballads called The Beatles Ballads was released. It was a hit around the world, but for some reason it was not released in the US. I've always loved the cover of this album. The painting was done by a Scottish artist, and the White Album was originally going to be called A Doll's House, and this painting was it. This illustration is a tribute to the cover of The Beatles Ballads. I've arranged it in a Yellow Submarine style.
1980年にThe Beatles Balladsというバラード・ナンバーを集めたアルバムが発売された。すでに廃盤でCD化もされていない。リンゴの曲が一つもないのが珍しくまた選曲と曲順が独特でiOSアプリのmusic（旧iTunes）でこのアルバムのリストを作ってよく聴いています。
世界中でそれなりにヒットしたのだけどなぜかアメリカでは発売されず。僕は昔からこのアルバムのジャケットがお気に入り。オリジナルの絵はスコットランドの画家によるもので当初ホワイト・アルバムはA Doll's Houseというタイトルでその絵になる予定でした。今回のイラストはThe Beatles Balladsのジャケットをリスペクト。勝手にYellow Submarine風味にアレンジして描いてみた。
