BTC looked like it would keep pushing higher after blasting through all-time highs earlier this year.

Instead, it stalled out just above those previous bitcoin cycle highs before selling off.

From my chats with several crypto fund managers and traders, there are two main factors driving the crypto prices.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has been the dominant investing theme for the past 18 months. AI chip king Nvidia (NVDA) briefly became the world’s most valuable company last month.
人工知能(AI)は、過去18か月間、主要な投資テーマでした。AIチップの王者であるエヌビデア(NVDA)は先月、一時的に世界で最も価値のある企業になりました。

This shifted attention (and dollars) away from blockchain. Investors who would’ve previously allocated money to crypto instead chose to pile into AI winners like Nvidia.

We can see this in the lack of individual participation in this crypto bull market. Coinbase’s (COIN) retail trading volumes are still only one-third of what they were in late 2021.
