歌詞和訳　fun. , Some Nights

分かる人にはすぐ分かるかもしれませんがこの曲のPVはアメリカの南北戦争をテーマにしています。曲自体は創作や立身をテーマにしているのですが、そこに「自分が何に立ち向かっているのか分からない」という狂おしい問いがあります。そうだとすれば、たしかに南北戦争にも通じるかもしれない。同国人同士がなぜ戦わなければならないのか、納得できる人なんてほどんどなかったでしょうから、文字通り「これが戦争だ！」というわけです。
歌詞には”some nights"と"most nights"と"other nights"が出てきます。ある夜には希望を抱き、ある夜には絶望しそうになり、だいたいの夜にはもう何も分からなくなる、しかし、最も素晴らしいものが生まれるのは、"some terrible nights"つまりある恐ろしい夜からなのだ、という強いメッセージに心を打たれました。

　ところで、ネイト・ルイスってアイオワ州出身のようなのですが、砂漠があるんでしょうか？「砂漠で干上がって死ぬ」とかすごい表現ですね。
