小説：時を超えた、禁断の愛

三重県伊賀市で育ったアクセンチュアのコンサルタント、ユウタは、やっかいなプロジェクトでストレスを抱えていた。大手化学メーカー、山東化学の本社ビルは、汐留にあった。そこで、SAP S/4プロジェクトの進め方について、山東化学の情報システム部の社員と議論していたが、なかなか結論が出なかった。

「全てのアドオンプログラムをS/4へ移行するとなると、膨大なテスト工数がかかります。一部を削減するか、BTPで機能を実現することで、プロジェクト規模を抑制しましょう」

「それでは駄目だ、ユーザーが使い慣れた機能が変わってしまうと、私たち情報システム部が責められてしまう」

話は平行線だった。

疲れたユウタは、カフェテリアに行って、ぬるいコーヒーを飲んでいた。

ユウタは、三重県立上野高校を卒業後、慶應義塾大学経済学部を卒業し、アクセンチュアに入社した。傍から見れば立派なエリートコースであるが、彼には心残りがあった。高校時代の恋人、アスカだ。アスカは関西の大学に進学したため、遠距離恋愛は続かず、二人は別れることになった。その後、ユウタはアクセンチュアに入社し、合コンで会った今の妻、ミチコと結婚した。だが、まだアスカのことを心残りに思っていた。

「アスカ・・・何をしているのか・・・」

その時だった・・・思いもよらない声を聞いた。

「ユウタ！ユウタじゃないの！」

「え・・・ま、まさか、アスカ！」

「久しぶり！どうしてここにいるの？」

「俺は、コンサルタントとして、山東化学のERPバージョンアッププロジェクトのリーダーとして、ここにいるんだ。アスカはどうして？」

「私、関西大学を卒業した後、実は山東化学に入社して。最初は和歌山工場の総務部だったのだけど、今年から本社総務部に異動になったの」

「え、そうだったのか・・・久しぶりだし、今夜、食事でも行かないか？」

「うん、そうしましょう！」

ユウタは、高校時代のことを思い出していた。高校のすぐそばの上野城がある公園で、二人はデートしていた。

「俺は、どうしても、早稲田か慶應に行きたいんだ。憧れているんだ」

「私は、早稲田や慶應には合格できないかな・・・でも、ユウタと一緒にいたいから、青山学院大学を受けるね！」

受験の結果、ユウタは早稲田と慶應の両方に合格したが、アスカは青山学院大学を不合格となり、関西の関西大学だけ合格した。二人は、遠距離でも交際しようと約束していたが、自然消滅となった。

汐留のフレンチレストランで、二人は食事をしていた。

「あの頃のこと・・・思い出すね。ユウタは、今は彼女はいるの？」

「俺は・・・いないよ」

ユウタは、嘘をついた。

「え、よかった！私も、彼氏いないの。また、私たち付き合えないかしら」

「そうだね！」

ユウタの脳裏に、妻の顔が浮かんだ。だが、もう、彼を止めることはできなくなっていた。

二人は、山東化学のオフィスでも次第に会うようになってしまっていた。

「プロジェクトのことで相談があるんだ。濱田部長なんだけど・・・」

「ああ、あのオジサン、頑固だから！でも、ゴマすりに弱いから、大丈夫よ、適当におだてておけばいいの」

プロジェクトの相談もできて、夜には恋人になってくれて、ユウタにとっては幸せだった。だが、妻を裏切っていることは間違いがなかった。

ユウタが、頻繁に総務部に行くのを、山東化学の他の社員が目撃していた。

「あれ・・・コンサルタントの山形ユウタさんだよな・・・なんで、うちの摂津アスカとよく会っているんだ？」

二人の噂は、徐々に広まっていた。

ある日、ユウタは、パートナーの柴田に呼び出されていた。

「山形さん、君は、山東化学の摂津さんと交際しているのか？」

「いえ、高校時代の友人でして、友人として色々なアドバイスをもらっています」

「そうか、とはいえ、君たちのことを噂しているクライアントがいる。今後は、二人で会うことを控えてもらえないか？」

「わかりました」

二人は、その後、夜だけ会うようになっていた。

「ねえ、ユウタ、どうして、土日は会ってくれないのかしら？」

「いや、土日は、米国公認会計士の勉強に集中したいんだ。どうしても取得したい資格なんだ」

「えー、じゃあ、私、家に行っちゃおうかな」

「ま、まずいよ」

「え、なんでまずいの？」

「部屋が汚いんだ」

「そんなの、気にしないわよ。大好きなあなたの部屋だもの」

「じ、実は・・・俺、結婚してるんだ」

「・・・うそ・・・」

「嘘じゃない、本当だ。アスカ、今まで騙していて、本当にごめんなさい」

「そんなの許せないわよ！私の気持ちを弄んでいたの！もう知らない、あなたとは二度と会わない！」

ユウタは「これで、よかったんだ」と考えていた。

ところが、それから一週間ほどして、アスカからメールがあった。

「ユウタ、今夜、会えないかしら？」

二人は、汐留でまた会うことになった。

「まずいよ、アスカ。俺には妻がいるって言ったじゃないか」

「・・・いいの、やっぱり、あなたのことが好き。二番でいいから、一緒にいたいの」

「いや、まずいって」

すると、アスカはユウタに抱きついた。そして、自然と、二人の唇は重なっていた。ここから、二人の泥沼の関係が始まってしまった。

ある日、ユウタがプロジェクトルームで執務中に、アスカが入ってきた。

「だーれだ？」

「アスカ？いや、駄目だって」

「え、どーして？」

「いや、だって、上司から注意されたから」

「えー、つまんない」

「困ったな・・・」

土曜日、ユウタが自宅で妻と昼食をとっていると、何やら窓からこちらをのぞいているような気配を感じた。

「ま、まさか・・・」

窓のほうを見ると、アスカがいた。

「あれ、あの女性、誰かしら？あなたの知り合い？」

「はは、誰だろうね？」

ユウタの心臓は止まりそうになっていた。

月曜日の夜、ユウタはレストランでアスカと食事していた。

「アスカ・・・もう、本当に、終わりにしよう。土曜日、俺の家に来ただろう？あれは本当にまずいよ」

「えー、どんな奥さんかな、と思って。駄目なの？」

「駄目に決まってるだろ！もう、お前は、新しい男を見つけろ！」

「・・・悲しい・・・もう、本当にお別れなのね」

「ああ、そうだ。オフィスでも会わない、夜も会わない。約束してくれ」

「わかったわ・・・ごめんね、あなたのこと、本当に愛していたわ」

ユウタは、やっとアスカと別れることができて、ほっとしていた。だが、それと同時に、心にぽっかりと穴が開いたようだった。

「苦しいが、俺には妻がいるんだ。どうしようもない」

その後、ユウタは、プロジェクトを無事に成功させて、山東化学とアクセンチュアで合同のパーティーが開催された。

「プロジェクトリーダーの、山形ユウタさん、弊社のSAPプロジェクトを成功に導いてくれました！山形さん、お言葉をもらえますか？」

「はい、このプロジェクトを成功させることができたのは、山東化学の皆様のご協力のためです。本当にありがとうございます。感謝しております」

すると・・・アスカが、花束を持ってきた。

「え、アスカ・・・」

「山形さん、ありがとうございます」

「こちらこそ・・・」

アスカの目からは、涙があふれていた。

ユウタは、心の中で思った。

「アスカ、本当にごめんな・・・来世では、きっと、結婚しよう」
