グゥエインの背に乗って、風に髪をたなびかせながら、エレンは不思議そうに考えていた。

「グゥエインは、どうして、東国の場所がすぐにわかったの？象族の街もわかるってさっき言っていたけど」

グゥエインは言った。

「前に話しただろう・・・宿命の子を東国から救出したと・・・東国は、600年ほど前、魔王の攻撃で壊滅的な打撃を受けた。だから、少年が宿命の子であると判明するや、多くの人が殺そうとした。モンスターだけではなく、東国では人間も宿命の子の命を狙っていたのだ。その少年をかくまったのが象族なのだが、象族からモンスターに連れ去れてしまったところを、私が救って西へと運んだのだ」

「そうだったの・・・でも・・・どうして？どうして少年を助けたの・・・」

「私の母、ドーラは・・・聖王の親友だったのだ。ドーラは人を襲ったために、聖王によって命を絶たれたが・・・まあ、因果だな。親友の生まれ変わりではないかと、そんな風に考えていたのだ」

グゥエインと話をしていると、象族の街、ラシュクータが見えてきた。

「あそこだ。象族の強力な仲間を加入させるといい」

グゥエインから降りたエレン、サラはラシュクータの街を散策した。人々（象たち？）から情報収集していると、どうも象族は昔は人間だったが、魔王の呪いで象の姿になってしまったらしい。普通の人間よりも体重が多いため、素早く動くことはできないが、強い生命力を手にしたとのこと。

ある一軒の家で、兄貴が眠ったままだという象と話をした。

「俺の兄貴は、あれ以来、ずっと眠ったままなんだ」

「あれって何よ・・・何があったの」

「兄貴は、人々から殺されそうになっている男の子を救い出して、このラシュクータにかくまっていた。だが、ある日その男の子はモンスターに連れ去られて・・・腐海の廃墟まで追いかけていったんだが、男の子は見つからなかった。そして、その日以来、兄貴は眠ったままなのさ」

エレンとサラが眠っている象の兄貴のところへ行くと・・・

「あの子はどこだ・・・ハア、ハア・・・」

突然、象の兄貴は目を覚ました。

「そうだったのか・・・あの男の子が宿命の子・・・そして、君がサラ・・・もう一人の宿命の子・・・あの男の子と同じ波長を感じるよ。とにかく、僕は目を覚ますことができた、ありがとう」

「私・・・何もしていません」

サラは、感謝されても、当惑するしかなかった。

弟のほうの象は、兄が目を覚ましたので、一緒に最終決戦に臨みたいと志願した。

「そうね・・・生命力が高いということは、ブラックが習得した龍神降臨と相性がよさそうだし・・・」

エレン、サラは象を仲間に加えた。ただ、ハリードたちの場所へ合流する際には、グゥエインから愚痴を言われた。

「象を運ぶのは重いな・・・大変だゾウ」
