Do something without failures?
I sometimes see the title “do something without failures” on books such as “baking breads without failures”.
I do understand how painful feeling I have when I fail to bake something.
There are too many failures I’ve ever had.
Such as ...Flat sponge, no feet on Macarons, crack on the bottom of campagne.
When I had a failure in my baking school, chef always said to me,
「That was a great learning experience!」
This word always made me feel relieved and also it was so true.
I learned a lot of things from my failures.
If I reduce icing sugar to make Americans buttercream, the cream will be runny.
If I put the room temp butter into the warm Swiss meringue, it will be also runny.
I could understand those points when I failed.
Everyone can fail.
Even my previous boss, who was a very famous pastry chef in Europe, failed sometimes.
In the restaurant, I also could learn the ways to reuse those failed baking goods.
I know failures make you sad.
However, it’s a great opportunity to learn something important from the failure.
When you fail, just remind this word.
This is a great learning experience!
