Semla
Today, 13th Feb, is seemed to be the day to eat “semla” in 2018.
semla consists of a cardamom-spiced wheat bun which has its top cut off, and is then filled with almond paste and topped with whipped cream.
The cut-off top serves as a lid and is dusted with powder sugar.
I found “semla” on the professional cooking magazine last year.
I got interested in this bread because I love cardamom!
I made it last year and this is my second time to make my semla.
My semla consists of a cardamom-spiced whole wheat bun with cardamom custard and whipped cream.
It tastes like a Japanese cream puff.
It also has a great flavor of cardamoms.
I make semlas around “Semla day” because I want to respect Swedish tradition.
I’ll make them in 2019 again for sure because this is one of my favorite breads.
And I may make semla style cream puffs by Easter ;)
Food cultures in different countries inspire me a lot.
I love to know it and learn it!!!
