Chinese Drama Question: How long will she stay in a relationship with a man who claims to love her deeply but also mistreats her?

It is quite unbelievable that even in contemporary Chinese dramas of the 21st century, there are still storylines where characters seek vengeance for their parents or make sacrifices to atone for their parents' sins.　

Also, when a rich businessman is one of the main characters, a scary mother figure always appears. She doesn't like the man's relationship with the female main character and bullies her.  To keep the female main character safe from the scary mother, the male main character starts mistreating her in public. And yet, behind the scenes, he loves her obsessively.

Witnessing this rollercoaster of sudden hugs and kisses amidst mental and physical humiliation is utterly exhausting; Despite multiple tries, I still need to wrap up watching all episodes of the dramas "Sealed with a Kiss" and "Be With You."

1. "Sealed with a Kiss" (千山暮雪)

In this story, an incredibly intimidating legal wife appears rather than a terrifying mother figure. The male protagonist, Xiao Chen, portrayed by Hawick Lau（劉愷威）, is a wealthy businessman who maintains a secret affair despite being in a politically motivated marriage.　

In the TV series, Ying Er (穎兒）portrays Tong Xue, the mistress of Xiao Chen and the female protagonist. Tong Xue is the daughter of a man who was an enemy of Xiao Chen's father. Since both fathers are deceased, Xiao Chen avenges by tormenting Tong Xue. He uses his wealth and deceitful methods to manipulate situations, coercing Tong Xue, a college student, into becoming his mistress. Additionally, he maliciously destroys her romantic relationship with her boyfriend.

Despite psychologically cornering her and subjecting her to emotional and physical abuse, Xiao Chen genuinely loves Tong Xue and wishes for her unwavering loyalty. However, he is sometimes fiercely jealous of her former boyfriend. The female protagonist, trapped in a cycle of psychological and physical abuse, was meant to yearn for a future free from the clutches of her abuser. However, she unexpectedly develops feelings for Xiao Chen. 
I would say, "Girl, stopped it right now. That guy is a total pervert. Get away from him as soon as possible."

Many short video clips of scenes from "Sealed with a Kiss" exist on YouTube with weird titles.  The pivotal moment arrives in the end of the series where Tonshie finally comprehends the depth of Xiaochin's affection for her in the final episode. Unfortunately, the blunt title, "When the fat girl left, she found the mobile phone left by the boss, which was full of his secret love," kills the  emotional intensity of the climax Scene.

1. Be With You (不得不愛)

In 'Be With You,' a frightening mother would do anything to protect the conglomerate. The male protagonist, Chuang Yu, played by Wilber Pan (由潘玮柏), and the female protagonist, Wei Lin, played by Xu Lu (徐璐), originally grew up in a family-like environment and were attracted to each other.

However, Wei Lin's father passed away amidst suspicion, leading to Chuang Yu's mother assuming control of the company, resulting in conflicting interests. Chuang Yu tried to send Wei Lin to America until the issue was resolved. However, the situation escalated when Wei Lin returned prematurely and attempted to reclaim the company.

Chuang Yu gives Wei Lin a hard job in the company and tries to make her quit by harassing her. But the female lead is so tough like a cyborg. She doesn't let it bother her.  She patiently avoids crises and gains the cooperation of various male colleagues, which causes Chuang Yu to become jealous and repeatedly enter a loop of suddenly hugging or kissing her whenever he's jealous.

If she possesses such strength, it would have been more prudent to enable her to directly confront the formidable mother, rather than dispatching her to America. Strangely, a young, beautiful, and intelligent female protagonist doesn't leave this crazy relationship.

Girl, why are you attracted by the overly complicated man? Don’t waste your life.
