「AIで進化する英語日記」100日目を迎えて
気づけば、「AIで進化する英語日記」を書き始めてから、あっという間に100日が経ちました。この節目に、私はこれまでの日々を振り返り、言語学習の醍醐味とAI活用の可能性について改めて考え直しています。どんな学びもそうですが、“物語”として振り返ると、自分がどのように成長し、どのように世界を広げてきたのかがはっきりと見えるものです。
【DAY1】好奇心とボトムアップ的アプローチのはじまり
第一歩として取り組んだのは、自分が興味のあるトピックを学習の中心に据えることでした。当時の私を惹きつけてやまなかったのは、アメリカ大統領選。市販教材に載っている単語や文章を漫然と覚えるより、自分が本当に知りたい情報に触れながら学ぶほうが、はるかにモチベーションが保てると考えたのです。
このボトムアップ的アプローチを試すうえで、AIが大きな助けになりました。私は大統領選のニュース動画をAIに要約してもらい、その要約を先に読むことで「映像の全体像」を早めにつかむようにしました。その後、実際に動画を観て、発音やイントネーションを耳で確かめる。仕上げに、AIに作成してもらった単語や熟語・構文集を確認し、重要表現を徹底的に覚える——こうしたサイクルによって、英語の理解度と興味が同時に高まっていく実感がありました。
【DAY4】五言語への拡張、そして多言語学習の魅力
英語学習から始まったこの日記は、意外な形で私の知的好奇心を刺激し、さらなる発展を迎えました。英語以外にも韓国語、中国語、ドイツ語などの多言語にも触れてみたいという思いが湧き上がり、AIに興味のあるニュースを五言語で要約してもらうという試みに挑戦したのです。
一度に五言語となると相当ハードルが高いように思えます。しかし、AIの要約機能を活用すれば、難解なニュースでも「概要」をすばやくつかむことができます。そのおかげで、私の学習効率は格段にアップしました。もちろん、すべてを完璧に吸収できたわけではありませんが、新しい単語や表現に触れる瞬間は、まるで未知の世界に扉が開くような興奮がありました。
【DAY21】タイトル変更、そして「AIからのフィードバック」
多言語学習が続くなか、私は日記のタイトルを「AIで進化する5ヶ国語学習日記」から「AIで進化する語学学習日記」に変更しました。このころには、「言語学習」という言葉が示す世界の広さを感じていたからです。英語にとどまらず、言葉を学ぶ楽しさと難しさ、そしてAIを活用する可能性はもっと大きいのではないか。そんな期待感が、タイトル変更の背景にありました。
さらに、学習プロセスの節々でAIからフィードバックを得るようになったのも大きな変化でした。AIは一方的に情報を与えてくれるだけでなく、私が書いた文章や発音に対して、瞬時に評価や修正案を提示してくれます。それはまるで“常時待機してくれる語学教師”のようで、独学の孤独感を打ち消してくれました。
【DAY30】英語の四技能を動画制作で実践
「書く・読む・聴く・話す」をバランスよく鍛えるために、私は英語日記に関する動画を作成し、さらには英語で動画のスクリプトを読み上げるというステップに挑戦しました。自分が発信者となって動画を制作するというのは、見る・聞くだけの受け身の学習とはまったく違う体験です。特に英語での発話と動画編集を組み合わせた作業は、語学力だけでなくクリエイティビティも刺激してくれました。
英語で動画を作り、スクリプトを読み込み、自分の録音を聴き、さらにAIと英語で対話する——この一連のプロセスは、英語を使う「場」を意識的につくり出す絶好の機会でした。自分の声が映像にのって拡散されるとなると、間違いを恐れる反面、成長への意欲がいっそう高まるのです。
【DAY48】三人称視点の「小説」としての日記
ここで、日記を小説化しようという大胆なアイデアが浮かびました。主語を三人称に変えてみると、不思議と客観的かつ物語性が増し、私自身の学習体験が一つの“ストーリー”として立ち現れてきます。
「彼は朝起きると、AIが要約した大統領選のニュースに目を通し、そこから出てきた単語を暗記カードにまとめる……」といった形式に書き直すことで、読む側にとってはエンターテインメント性が加わり、書く側にとっては文章表現の幅が広がる。学習日記を「第三者が主人公の物語」に変換する発想は、自己客観視の一助となり、同時に創作意欲をかきたてる効果がありました。
【DAY54】再び英語へ、学習対象の一本化
五言語からスタートした多彩な試みを経て、私は改めて「英語」に集中しようと決意しました。日記のタイトルも「AIで進化する語学学習日記」から「AIで進化する英語学習日記」へと変更し、英語にコミットする期間を設けることにしたのです。
なぜ英語に絞ったのか。それは、多言語学習の魅力を知ったからこそ、まずは英語を自分の中でしっかりと根付かせてみたいという想いが強くなったからです。複数言語を同時に学ぶなかで、英語が自分のコミュニケーションツールとして最も使い勝手がよく、かつ情報量が圧倒的に多いと実感しました。自分にとって一番の優先事項は、まず英語での思考や情報収集をさらにスムーズにすること——そのための転換でした。
100日目のいま――振り返りとこれから
そして迎えた100日目。五言語学習から英語学習への一点集中、動画制作や小説化といった創意工夫、AIとの連携による効率向上……この日記を書き始めた当初には想像もしていなかったほど、多彩な学習経験を積むことができました。
私の成長を物語る出来事の一つに、「小説を書いたこと」が挙げられます。試行錯誤をくり返しながら物語性を帯びた英語学習日記を仕上げた結果、単語や熟語の習得だけでなく、自分の思考を物語へと“翻訳”する視点を得ることができたのです。言葉を操るということは、世界をどのように切り取るかを選び取る行為でもあります。AIが提供する即時的な翻訳や要約の技術を、ただ受け取るのではなく、自分自身の創作意欲と結びつけていく。その試みが日記のさらなる奥行きを生んだのだと感じます。
もちろん、まだまだ道半ばです。英語学習に終わりはありませんし、いつかは他の言語にも再挑戦したいと思っています。AIとの協働は、私に大きな可能性を見せてくれましたが、同時に人間の創造力や主体性がいかに重要かを再認識させてもくれました。興味や好奇心を原動力とし、自分だけの学習の物語を紡ぎ続ける——その意識こそが「AI時代の語学学習」を支える鍵だと、100日間を通して強く実感しています。
明日からの日記では、さらにAIと連携し、より高度な英語のアウトプットやディスカッション、そして新たなトピックの探究を続けていくつもりです。どのような未来が待ち受けているのかはわかりませんが、これまでの経験が示すとおり、AIを媒介にして言葉を学ぶという挑戦には、想像を超えた豊かな発見があると信じています。

Reaching the 100th Day of “Evolving English Learning with AI”
Time has flown by, and before I knew it, I reached the 100th day of writing my “Evolving English Learning with AI” journal. At this milestone, I find myself looking back on the past days, revisiting the joys of language learning and reconsidering the potential of AI. Reflecting on one’s growth in the form of a “story” reveals how much one has evolved and how one’s world has expanded.
【DAY 1】 The Beginning of Curiosity and a Bottom-Up Approach
My first step was to center my studies on a topic that truly interested me. At the time, I was completely fascinated by the U.S. presidential election. Instead of memorizing random words and sentences from commercial textbooks, I believed it would be far more motivating to learn English through content that genuinely captured my curiosity.
AI became a valuable partner in experimenting with this bottom-up approach. I had AI summarize news videos about the election so I could get an early grasp of the overall content. After reading the summaries, I would watch the videos to focus on pronunciation and intonation. Finally, I would study the vocabulary lists, idioms, and grammar structures that AI generated, thoroughly memorizing the key expressions. This cycle allowed me to deepen my understanding of English while maintaining a strong sense of engagement.
【DAY 4】 Expanding to Five Languages and the Appeal of Multilingual Learning
Initially focused on English, my journal soon took an unexpected turn, sparking my intellectual curiosity and leading to even greater developments. The desire to also explore Korean, Chinese, German, and other languages led me to challenge myself: I asked AI to summarize interesting news articles in five different languages.
Studying five languages simultaneously may sound daunting, but with AI’s summarization tools, I could quickly grasp the main points of even the most complex news. This significantly boosted my learning efficiency. Of course, I could not absorb everything perfectly, but each time I encountered new words and expressions, I felt a thrill as if a door to a new world had opened.
【DAY 21】 A Title Change and “AI Feedback”
As my multilingual studies progressed, I changed the journal’s title from “Evolving Five-Language Learning with AI” to “Evolving Language Learning with AI.” Around this time, I came to understand just how vast the world of “language learning” truly is. Not limited to English alone, there is immense joy and complexity in studying languages, and there seemed to be endless potential in incorporating AI. That sense of excitement led to the new title.
I also began to receive AI feedback more frequently during my learning process. Instead of simply giving me information, AI would instantly evaluate or offer corrections on my writing and pronunciation. It was like having a “language teacher on standby,” eliminating the feeling of isolation that often comes with self-study.
【DAY 30】 Practicing the Four English Skills Through Video Creation
In order to develop a balanced mastery of writing, reading, listening, and speaking, I produced videos related to my English journal. I also took on the challenge of reading the video script aloud in English. Creating a video as the producer is a completely different experience from passively watching or listening to content. The combination of spoken English and video editing not only enhanced my language skills but also sparked my creativity.
I wrote my English script, read it aloud, listened back to my own recordings, and then discussed the video in English with AI. This sequence of activities was an ideal way to proactively create contexts in which I had to use English. Knowing my voice would be shared in a video heightened my fear of making mistakes, yet it also amplified my drive to improve.
【DAY 48】 Transforming the Journal into a “Novel” in the Third Person
At this point, I had the bold idea to turn my journal into a novel. By switching to a third-person narrative, my personal learning experiences took on a new objectivity and narrative flair.
For instance, rewriting passages as, “He wakes up in the morning and reads AI’s summary of the U.S. presidential election news, then compiles the new vocabulary into flashcards...” introduced an entertaining element for the reader, while also expanding my own repertoire of expressions. Turning a learning journal into a story about a “third-person protagonist” not only helps in self-reflection but also fuels creative motivation.
【DAY 54】 Refocusing on English as the Primary Language
After numerous attempts that began with studying five different languages, I decided to concentrate on English again. I changed the journal’s title from “Evolving Language Learning with AI” to “Evolving English Learning with AI” and dedicated a period to focusing on English alone.
Why English? Because after experiencing the beauty of multilingual study, I realized how crucial it was for me to firmly establish English skills within myself. While exploring multiple languages at once, I found that English served as my most accessible communication tool, with an overwhelming abundance of resources and content. I wanted to be able to think and gather information more smoothly in English, and this goal prompted my shift in focus.
The 100th Day — Looking Back and Looking Ahead
And so the 100th day has arrived. From learning five languages, to narrowing my focus back to English, from video production to novelization, and from a range of creative strategies to the enhanced efficiency brought by AI—this journal has evolved beyond anything I initially imagined.
One milestone in my development was writing a novel. Through trial and error, I created an English-learning journal infused with a sense of storytelling. This not only helped me learn vocabulary and idioms but also gave me a new lens for “translating” my thoughts into a narrative. In mastering language, we decide how to frame the world we perceive. AI tools that provide instant translations or summaries are most valuable when integrated with our own creativity, a synergy that enriched the scope of this journal.
Of course, my journey is not complete. Learning English has no true endpoint, and I hope to revisit other languages one day. Working with AI has opened up vast possibilities, but it has also reinforced how vital human creativity and autonomy are. Remaining curious, staying motivated, and weaving one’s unique story of learning—these are the key elements that will sustain “AI-era language learning,” as I have discovered over these past 100 days.
Starting tomorrow, I plan to collaborate even more closely with AI, aiming for more advanced English outputs, discussions, and the exploration of new topics. The future may be uncertain, but if these past experiences are any indication, learning language through AI offers an abundance of discoveries that exceed my imagination.
