ぽぬぐりっしゅ日記🐾

I decided to start writing a diary from today to improve my English. My English level is not high; it’s more like "Ponuglish." After all, I am a tanuki! I hope I can write every day without missing any days.

Today is my first day writing in my diary, so I’ll introduce myself a little. I’m a very cute tanuki, a unique animal native to Japan and the eastern coast of Eurasia. Some people might have heard that tanuki (or raccoon dogs) are considered to be an exotic and invasive species in parts of Europe. But let me clarify—tanuki are not responsible for this at all; it’s actually humans who are responsible.

To explain, I must share a part of our tragic history. You see, we tanuki are adorable in part because of our fluffy fur. In winter, our fur becomes thicker and fluffier, making us look like cozy balls of yarn. This cuteness unfortunately led some evil people to the idea of making scarves out of our fur, not far long ago. And we were brought to Europe. How else can we describe this but as a tragedy? We were slaughtered, and robbed of our soft, beautiful fur.

I feel it might be my duty to share this tragic history with people around the world because it is something humans must not be allowed to forget. Anyway, that’s all for today—it's time for dinner.
