Visit Touristy Destinations from A Tourist's Perspective
Yesterday, I visited Dotonbori.
I wanted the Senegalese artist who was a guest in the Yoshino cedar home to experience the essence of Osaka. Since I usually don't visit there at night, it was quite different. Moreover, accompanying the guest led me to places I wouldn't have gone by myself. The bar we ended up was like the street vendor, with a DJ playing music loudly. There, tourists and locals were making noise in equal measure. While there were many foreigners in the clubs, I was surprised to see more foreigners than expected in the small roadside bars.
I've seen this mentioned in some newsletters, but it seems that tourists are seeking deeper, more local experiences away from urban and famous tourist spots. They want to see the everyday life of Japan.
In Yoshino, during sakura season, many foreigners visit, and it seems they also visit Kumano, where it is located much deeper than Yoshino. I think tourists get tired and bored of urban experience. After all, I feel that regardless of who they are, humans naturally appreciate nature.
Bye!
