A Highly Satisfying Family Funeral
I recently attended a relative's funeral. It had been over ten years since my last funeral, so I had completely forgotten how things were done. The last time must have been when I was in high school. It's a sad event, so I don't remember much of the details.
This time, the ceremony was held by an entity called "Hanakou." As the name says, it was a funeral home run by a flower shop. There was a flower shop on the lower floor, and the funeral space was above it.
The atmosphere felt like a slightly larger private home that had been renovated, making it perfect for a family funeral. As a result, the cost was probably modest. However, the content was very good. Since it was run by a florist, the flowers on the altar were beautifully decorated. Moreover, they listened to the chief mourner about the deceased's memories and announced them during the farewell ceremony. This connected the deceased and the bereaved family as a final memory. I thought the essence of a funeral lies there. While a funeral home provides the final place for them, sharing memories gave a very high sense of satisfaction.
As a result, the relatives, including myself, were very satisfied. Of course, saying goodbye to the deceased was heart-wrenching. However, I truly felt that it was a perfect ceremony for the final farewell.
Bye!
