Why I started an internship in Cambodia
Nice to meet you, I'll start writing notes today
I’m Takuma.
And today I start an internship at a free school in Cambodia called CBB School, an international cooperation NGO.
I would like to write about CBB School, Cambodia, and what I feel. I hope I can provide useful information for people who want to come to Cambodia, who want to know about Cambodia, and who want to know about CBB School.
Self-introduction
Name: Takuma Hara
Age: 21 years old (22 years old this year)
Origin: Hokkaido
Hobbies: reading, cooking, guitar
I was born and raised in a small rural town in Hokkaido with a population of about 3000.When I was in elementary school, I played baseball and kendo, and continued kendo in junior high and high school.
After entering university, I’ve been enthusiastic about English, going to an English conversation school, doing online English conversations, and interacting with international students to improve my English skills.
I am currently in 4th year at university and will graduate next year.
At university, I belong to a teacher training course and learn about English education and second language acquisition. The process of learning languages is very interesting and I am thinking about how to learn a language efficiently. I would like to talk about language acquisition in the future in connection with the current state of Cambodian education.
Why did I decide to intern at CBB School, an international cooperation NGO?
There are four main reasons
① Importance of language
I learned about the importance of language through studying at universities and exchanges with international students. This may not be felt very much in Japan. That's because you don't need to use English as much as you normally live in Japan, and it's all done in Japanese. However, in other countries, countries are adjacent to each other, and once you enter the next country, it is normal that a different language is spoken. People in such countries sometimes go to other countries to get a job, so they cannot work unless they speak the language of that country. Therefore, language skills are very important.
② A sense of crisis
I felt that all the children had great talents through interaction with the children in the teaching practice, and that it was the teacher's job to draw them out well. At the same time, I feel a sense of crisis as to how much precious talents of children are wasted in countries where education is not adequately provided.
③ Future
From the end of my third year at the university to the beginning of my fourth year at the university, I began to think seriously about my career.
What do you want to do in the future? I've been thinking for a long time. However, it was difficult to answer.
Then I focused on what I can do rather than what I wanted to do.
I studied about education. I can speak English. I am also interested in international cooperation.
So I saw a way. Engage in education in developing countries. I felt that it was necessary to feel the current situation with my own eyes and skin.
For these reasons, I decided to participate in CBB this time. I want to absorb a lot of things for the next month.
Next time, I'd like to write about ''What's CBB?''.
Thank you.
