Day 244: First Bonitos
Katsuo is Bonito in English.
By the way, Bonito means "pretty" in Portuguese and Spanish...
We Japanese don't see this fish as pretty ones, but most of us love them much.
In Spring, bonitos started to converge to swim toward north in the pacific ocean and we call them "First Bonitos".
We enjoy the fresh less fat bonitos in this season, whereas we also enjoy the rich fat bonitos in Autumn when they swim back from north to south through the ocean.
Let me enjoy the first "First Bonito"!
Word of the day
