混沌の街に潜む影 - “ネメシス”との対峙（英検１級単語をストーリーで覚える#11）

この記事の目的

こちらの記事に書きましたが、英検１級向けの最高レベル（と思われる）英単語帳を作りました。

英検１級 パス単と英検１級 過去問10回分の英単語を含め、約3500単語の英単語帳ができました。
私自身この英単語帳の単語を覚えていっている最中なのですが、覚え方の方法の1つとして、単語を一つ一つ覚えるよりも、ストーリーを通じて覚える方が効率的に記憶に残るため、ストーリーを作っていこうと思います。
３５００単語ある英単語帳から英単語を20~25個ほどランダムに抽出して、それらの英単語を使ったストーリーを作って行こうと思います。
これを週４〜5本作り、学習していくことで、語彙力向上（＋リーディング向上）を目指していこうと思います。
楽しく、効率的に英語力を向上することを目指していまして、私と同じように英検１級の勉強をしている方向けに作ったものを共有します。

The infirmary was unusually quiet, almost eerie, as if the building itself was holding its breath. Dr. Clara Riggs was there, stitching up a man’s hand after a frenetic struggle in the streets. The city's turmoil had escalated over the past week, transforming simple protests into a near-civil war. Clara had seen it all unfold — the capitalist regime tightening its grip, the streets filled with derisive cries for freedom. She felt like she was smooth over a wound too deep to ever fully heal.

As she finished, the man mumbled something about a secret weapon hidden within the city’s geologic layers. His sheepish tone made her doubt him, but there was an uncanny truth in his eyes. Clara knew better than to dismiss such things in times like these. The calamity outside was beyond comprehension, and people were whispering of things darker than politics.

"Who told you this?" she asked, trying to hide her trepidation.

“A man... a notorious figure. They call him 'The Nemesis'," the man replied, his voice tenuous. Clara’s heart sank. If this was true, the city had more than just riots to worry about. The holocaust that might come next would be catastrophic.

Later that night, Clara found herself flicking through the man's file. His background was strange, almost a variant of the typical rebels she treated. He had ties to a secretive organization, known for being belligerent and savvy in underground tactics. She needed to comb through more information before making any conclusions.

The next morning, Clara noticed a note slipped under her door. It simply read, “Meet me at the hub, midnight.” The hub was a deserted part of town, once a thriving market now abandoned after the city’s economy had deteriorated. It was the perfect place for a trap.

Still, Clara had no choice. She grabbed her bag, knowing she might not return. As she stepped out into the cold, Clara couldn't help but feel that the city's chaos had become an unstoppable force, like an exponential curve of violence, saturating every corner of its existence.

Midnight came, and so did her nemesis.
