Ukraine Situation
It has been 732 days since Russia invaded Kyiv.
First,
a general matter.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,
the Russian losses were 810 soldiers
8 tanks
16 armored combat vehicles
29 artillery pieces
22 drones
2 cruise missiles
25 other vehicles.
A total of 84 ground engagements were reported on the front line during the day.
As we will report later,
Russian forces continue to advance near Avdiivka.
And the ratio of the number of Ukrainian equipment losses to Russian losses,
which can be visually confirmed,
is 1 to 2.1,
compared to the losses on the Ukrainian side.
The Russian side has more infantry fighting vehicles and sends soldiers to the front lines to attack.
There is no particular trend in losses on the Ukrainian side.
This is a short news report about the situation in Ukraine.
You can also use YouTube's chapter feature to watch where you want.
1.
On the night of the 24th,
an explosion at Russia's largest steel mill,
Novolipetsk,
located 370 kilometers from Kharkiv,
caused a massive fire.
In the video footage taken at the moment of the explosion,
you can see a sudden flash of light from the plant spreading far into the night sky.
The plant is a large one,
accounting for 18% of Russia's steel production,
and although the Russian Defense Ministry announced that two drones had been shot down in the area,
social networking sites reported that all employees had been evacuated,
along with the sound of multiple explosions.
Andrey Yusov,
head of Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate,
said he could neither confirm nor deny,
but added that "if something flew over and fell there,
it would also cause a fire," and that "this company will be stuck in production for a long time."
Second.
I am pleased to report that there have been concrete developments in the delivery of Gripen to Ukraine.
First,
Swedish Prime Minister Kristiansson visited Hungary and held a joint press conference with Prime Minister Orban.
Although Hungary was the only country that did not approve Sweden's NATO membership,
the two countries signed a military agreement for the purchase of four Swedish Gripen fighter jets,
and Prime Minister Orban said at the joint press conference that "we are ready to die for each other" and that he expects the Hungarian Parliament to approve Sweden's NATO membership on Monday.
Meanwhile,
according to Defense News,
Franzen,
head of marketing at Saab,
which manufactures Gripen,
said that "with the approval of the Swedish government,
we will be ready to send Gripen to Ukraine quite soon," suggesting that the company is prepared to provide Gripen under the radar.
Although no official announcement has been made,
it is likely that Gripen will be provided to Ukraine once Sweden becomes a member of NATO.
Gripen is a small,
versatile aircraft developed for the defense of the Soviet Union,
capable of taking off and landing from a 17-meter-wide,
800-meter-long highway,
and able to refuel,
reload and take off again in 10 minutes,
features that make it a suitable fighter for Ukraine.
Now,
here is the war situation in each region.
Here are the areas where the war situation has changed.
Northeast: Luhansk region
Eastern part,
towards Bakhmut
We will report on the war situation on the Svatove-Kreminna line from Halkiu and Kupyansk,
and from the area around Siversk to Bakhmut.
In this area the Russians attacked twice near Shinkivka,
twice near Terny and nine times in the direction of Bakhmut.
Bakhmut area
According to the video with location information,
the Russians attacked along the railroad tracks south of Bohdanivka.
The Russians attacked with several infantry fighting vehicles and armored vehicles,
and when they reached their positions,
paratroopers jumped out and attacked the Ukrainian positions,
winning the battle of positions as the Ukrainians retreated,
advancing about 500 meters.
What I am showing you is the Russian side and the location shown on the map.
The Russian forces ended the operation in a short time and the area was overrun.
This area was recaptured by Ukrainian forces on January 23,
and the battle map has been updated to show Russian forces occupying the area from the recaptured Ukrainian positions.
2.
East of the pond in Klishchiivka,
we reported in yesterday's video that there was a Russian military attack,
and according to the location-based video,
the Russian military attacked again and advanced here as well.
According to the location-based video,
the Russians attacked again,
this time advancing. The Russians bombed Klishchiivka and Andrivka,
followed by a ground assault.
The Ukrainian military had already retreated from the area,
and although they returned fire with drones,
they were unable to stop the Russian advance.
The image shown is from the Ukrainian army's Signum Battalion and shows the area shown on the map,
with a Russian soldier sitting in the middle of the desolate ground.
Since this area is a depression between the eastern and western highlands,
the Ukrainian army may not be trying to force a defense where it is difficult to defend.
The battle map has been updated to show this location as occupied by Russian forces from disputed territory.
Meanwhile,
Ukrainian forces are shelling Kurdumivka to the south to check Russian troop movements.
Other than that,
there has been no other information to affect the battle map,
as the number of Russian attacks has decreased.
Southeast Donetsk region
Weather in Avdiivka: sunny,
sometimes cloudy.
The minimum temperature is -4 degrees Celsius and the maximum is 5 degrees Celsius.
Today's weather forecast is for showers and occasional clouds.
Below is an update on the situation in the areas of Avdiivka,
Marinka and Vuhledar.
Avdiivka
The Russians have carried out nine attacks in this sector.
The current focus is on Lastchokine and Severne.
The frequency of airstrikes has decreased due to the downing of a Russian early warning aircraft,
as reported in yesterday's video.
1.
According to the found video,
Russian troops attacked and occupied the settlement of Lastchokine.
Troops of the 35th motorized rifle brigade of the Russian Army claimed the occupation by raising a flag to the east of the mapped settlement,
as shown on social networking sites.
Ukrainian forces countered by using drones to reduce the strength of the Russian forces in the rear,
but it appears that they quickly retreated to positions west of the settlement after seeing the Russian attack.
The battle map has been updated to show the settlement of Rastochkine and its suburbs as occupied by Russian forces from the territory controlled by Ukrainian forces.
Second.
Meanwhile,
in Severne,
this is supposed to be before the downing of the early warning aircraft,
but it shows Russian forces conducting an airstrike,
and at least at that point,
the resistance of the Ukrainian military is supposed to be continuing.
What we are showing is drone footage from the Russian side showing the areas of Severne,
Lastochkine and Orlivka.
The battle map remains unchanged.
Marinka Sector
In this area,
Russian forces have launched 44 attacks on Pobieda and Novomihailivka,
trying to break through Ukrainian positions,
but Ukrainian forces are also defending themselves and the battle map remains unchanged.
As we reported in yesterday's video,
there is a possibility of a successful counterattack by Ukrainian forces south of Pobieda.
There is no information to confirm this at the moment,
so we have left it as it is.
South,
Zaporizhia province.
In this area the Russian troops made eight attacks in Robotyne.
In Robotyne,
we reported the advance of the Ukrainian army in yesterday's video,
and then the Russians made a vehicle attack on Robotyne from the west,
breaking through the Ukrainian defense,
which was so successful that the infantry was then deployed,
and once in the center of the town,
they managed to enter near the post office.
What I am showing you is the Russian army and the location shown on the map.
The Russian army then attacked from the south as well,
and the Ukrainian army,
disoriented by the breakthrough in the center,
retreated once,
but the Ukrainian army then counterattacked,
and unconfirmed latest information suggests that they have eliminated all Russian troops that entered the city center.
This area was recaptured by Ukrainian forces in a reversal offensive last September,
but the latest Russian attack has updated the battle map,
changing the southern half of the city from Ukrainian recaptured territory to disputed territory,
and the southern outskirts of the city from disputed territory to Russian-occupied territory.
Rear Area
At the Arcadia restaurant in the center of Donetsk,
where Russian troops were holding a banquet to commemorate the second anniversary of the start of a special military operation,
Ukrainian artillery shells interrupted the event,
killing and wounding 50 Russian soldiers.
The video footage shows craters in the ground and half-eaten dishes,
confirming that the banquet was a pleasant one and that the shelling had a serious impact on the event.
South,
Kherson province.
In this sector the Russians attacked Krinky eight times,
but the Ukrainian forces repulsed them,
leaving the battle map unchanged,
but there was one curious incident.
According to the video of their positions,
two Russian soldiers made it to the camp indicated on the map.
By the time they reached the camp,
the Russian soldiers appeared to be just walking around,
and the Ukrainian army removed them with a drone,
but it is possible that the Ukrainian army is not in control enough to retake the area,
so caution is needed.
Other.
Former MI6 director Diarrab noted that there is a "fundamental problem" with the health of 71-year-old President Vladimir Putin and that he may be "suffering from delirium,
a condition characteristic of Parkinson's disease.
Diarrab noted that Putin's "delirium may have caused him to feel threatened by Navalny,
leading him to order his death a month before the election," and that Putin's behavior may be controlled by his illness,
although he could not be sure.
That's all for today.
Thank you for watching.
