Situation in Ukraine
It has been 717 days since Russia invaded Kyiv.
First,
a general matter.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,
the Russian losses were 980 soldiers
9 tanks
21 armored combat vehicles
24 artillery pieces
26 drones
31 other vehicles.
Across the front,
110 ground attacks were reported in a single day.
Russian forces are launching concentrated attacks at a time when Western support is slow.
And the ratio of the number of Ukrainian equipment losses to Russian equipment losses that can be visually confirmed is 1 to 2.1,
with the Russian side losing 2.1 times as much as the Ukrainian side.
The losses on the Russian side are mostly civilian trucks,
tanks and IFVs,
which are still on the offensive.
On the Ukrainian side,
BMP infantry fighting vehicles from the former Soviet Union have been attacked by drones.
This is a short news report about the situation in Ukraine.
You can also use YouTube's chapter feature to watch where you want.
First.
President Zelensky addressed the nation and announced the appointment of Balilevich,
commander of the local defense forces,
as the new Chief of General Staff.
Second.
With regard to the Russian presidential elections on March 17,
the mayor of Meltopol,
Ivan Fedorov,
predicted what would happen in the coming days with regard to voting in the occupied territories.
1.
The elections will be held from February 25 to March 17,
with early voting allowed.
2.
Voting will be allowed without showing a passport,
which will allow people to vote for a particular person as many times as they want.
3.
Military personnel and state officials were taken to secret polling stations to be filmed for propaganda television.
4.
The occupation authorities will go door to door with armed troops and force all residents to vote at gunpoint.
5.
Election observers consisting of students will be organized,
trained in how to falsify election results,
and will visit a number of polling stations to practice this under the guise of monitoring.
With this,
Mayor Fedorov noted that preparations for a propaganda show in the name of "Russian presidential elections" are continuing.
3.
Russian presidential candidate Nadezhdin is having trouble printing campaign fliers and other materials for his election campaign.
Sources told European Russian-language media that Nadezhdin had produced 2.5 million copies of a newspaper for his campaign to be distributed on January 29,
and that he had asked a printing house accredited by the Central Election Commission to do the printing for 4.5 million rubles. However,
just before printing,
the contract was canceled,
citing "instructions from above," and the money paid was returned.
He then asked more than 60 printers to print the book,
but they all refused for one reason or another.
Nadezhdin submitted the 105,000 signatures required for his candidacy in opposition to the war in Ukraine,
but the Central Election Commission refused to accept his candidacy because of incomplete documentation,
and he is currently in the process of filing an appeal.
Now,
here is the war situation in each region.
I will tell you where the war situation is changing.
Northeast: Luhansk region
Eastern part,
towards Bakhmut
We will report about the war situation on the Svatove-Kreminna line from Halkiu and Kupyansk,
and from the area around Siversk to Bakhmut.
In this area the Russians attacked five times near Shinkivka,
four times around Terny and Bilohorivka,
and four times in the direction of Bakhmut.
Kupyansk sector
The war may have moved in this direction.
1.
The Russians attacked around the Shinkivka position from the west,
broke through the defensive line and entered the village,
apparently entering an urban battle.
It is possible that the Russians changed the direction of their attack and hit a weak point in the western defensive line.
Unconfirmed reports from several pro-Russian social networking sites claim that Russian forces are already in control of approximately 15% to 25% of the city.
We will keep you updated as more information becomes available to confirm this.
We have updated our battle map to show this area as contested territory.
2.
On the contrary,
south of Khlovmalne,
according to the video that we have located,
the Ukrainian army has managed to cut off the logistics of the Russian army through drone strikes.
What we are showing you is a view of the location indicated on the map,
where Russian soldiers with cargo are observed by a drone before they are attacked.
We have updated the battle map of this location from Russian occupied territory to disputed territory.
Svatove-Kreminna line
Russian troops are trying to advance in the direction of Terny,
Yampolivka and Torske.
On this day,
Defense Minister Shoigu visited the command post of the Western Military District in this area and was briefed by the Russian commander on the situation at the front.
An analysis by the Institute for the Study of War suggests that the Russians may have raised the priority of their offensive operations in this direction.
Now,
according to the position video,
Ukrainian troops are conducting drone strikes east of Yampolivka,
blocking the advance of Russian troops.
The picture shows the 60th mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The battle map has been updated to include this area as an extension of the disputed territory.
Russian forces have also been moving toward Torske on a daily basis,
but this area has been repelled by Ukrainian artillery units.
Around Sibersk
Regarding the mine water treatment plant south of Bilohorivka,
which we have been reporting on daily,
Russian troops have moved in and advanced using BMP infantry fighting vehicles.
The Ukrainian military has been pounding the area where the Russians are using drones that can drop continuously,
but they have not been able to remove the Russian troops.
What we are showing you is the Ukrainian side,
with the Russian troops operating at the location on the battle map.
We have updated the battle map because the entire processing area has been occupied by Russian forces from the disputed area.
Around Bakhmut
In the cemetery along O0506 from Bakhmut to Chashkiyar,
the Russians advanced to a forest in the south.
The Russian troops attacked the cemetery to check the Ukrainian troops defending the road O0506,
and then their main force bypassed the cemetery and made a frontal attack into the forest,
capturing the eastern part of the road in the forest with some damage.
The positional video shows that the Russians abandoned their BMP infantry fighting vehicles at the location indicated on the map,
and that Russian paratroopers deployed from inside the vehicles.
We have updated the battle map from the disputed area and the Ukrainian recaptured area to the Russian occupied area.
Otherwise,
the Russian attack was repelled by the Ukrainian forces,
and no changes were made to the battle map.
Southeast Donetsk region
The weather in Avdiivka is light rain.
The minimum temperature is 0 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is 1 degree Celsius.
Today's weather forecast is for rain.
The severe cold is over and we can feel the spring coming little by little.
Here is an update on the situation in Avdiivka,
Marinka and Vuhledar.
Mayorsk area
In the video from the day before yesterday,
we reported that the substation east of Niuyork had been taken over by the Russian army after the Ukrainian army retook it,
but according to the video with location information,
we can confirm that the Ukrainian army has raised a flag on the substation tower.
The one we are showing you belongs to the 225th Local Defense Battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
As we reported in a previous video,
this location is politically significant to the Russian military as a place they occupied before the invasion,
which could perhaps lead to a campaign to reduce the strength of the Ukrainian military if the Russians come for the flag in the future.
We have updated the battle map of this area from Russian occupied to contested again.
Avdiivka
Russian forces launched an offensive in the area,
bombing supply lines in Avdiivka and launching 26 attacks.
Ukrainian military spokesman Likhovy admitted that urban warfare was taking place in residential areas near the coking plant,
and Avdiivka Mayor Balabash said that Russian forces were trying to cut off communication lines to the center of the city.
1.
The main focus of the fighting is around a former mining site called Tellikon.
As we reported in yesterday's video,
the Russian army has concentrated its forces in the residential area east of the coking plant and is trying to break through with a frontal assault.
The Ukrainian army,
on the other hand,
is using drones to stop the advance,
but the situation remains unpredictable and critical.
The drone checks the Russian soldiers advancing just before the bridge.
The battle map remains unchanged.
2.
The water treatment plant in the south-east,
defended by the Ukrainian army as a stronghold,
is heavily shelled by the Russians.
Otherwise,
there is no other information affecting the battle map in Avdiivka,
and the Ukrainian army repels the Russian attack.
Marinka Sector
In this sector the Russians made 16 attacks.
East of Novomirovka,
which has been the focus of these attacks,
there was another battle yesterday between Russian forces trying to gain a foothold in the city and Ukrainian forces trying to stop them. The Russian army is believed to be massing its forces in preparation for the next offensive.
Towards Vuhledar
According to the positional video,
Ukrainian troops are shelling the area shown on the map north of Mykilske,
and the presence of Russian troops can be seen in this area.
We have updated the battle map here as an expansion of the disputed area.
The Russians are advancing towards the mine in Vuhledar,
targeting the Ukrainian supply line O0532.
Conversely,
Ukrainian forces conducted a drone strike on Russian military positions in Mykilske,
destroying a Russian SUV and a truck.
South,
Zaporizhia Province.
In this sector the Russians conducted two attacks in Robotyne and Verbove.
West of Robotyne,
two Russian BMP2 infantry fighting vehicles and one T72 tank were destroyed or abandoned at the locations shown on the map,
and the Russian attack was repulsed by Ukrainian forces.
The battle map is unchanged.
Rear Area
We have received more information about the attack on the Krasnodar refinery that we reported on yesterday.
The SBU of the Security Service of Ukraine reports that Ukrainian military drones successfully attacked the Irsky and Afipsky oil refineries in Krasnodar.
The Institute for the Study of War assesses that Ukraine has asymmetrical success in attacking oil-related facilities,
as Ukraine has the ability to attack Russian oil refineries with drones and not vice versa.
South,
Kherson province.
In this direction,
Russian forces conducted two attacks in Krinky,
but Ukrainian forces repulsed them without changing the battle map.

The Financial Times reported that a senior U.S. military official warned that the Ukrainian military will continue to be without Western aid for some time and that it will be difficult to even maintain the current front line,
especially due to a lack of air defense systems and ammunition.
He also noted that the situation on the front line is serious,
with the number of artillery strikes increasing from one to ten,
i.e. the Russians are shelling ten times more,
and they are facing a desperate situation.
The Washington Post also reported that in addition to ammunition,
the lack of infantry has led to fatigue and low morale on the front lines.
For now,
the Ukrainian army is defending itself and only allowing the Russians to advance,
but the situation could change significantly in the near future.
Some of our viewers did not understand what was going on,
so I explained the situation directly to them.
That's all for today.
Thank you for watching.
