Situation in Ukraine
It has been 693 days since Russia invaded Kyiv.
First,
general things.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,
Russian losses are
780 soldiers
21 tanks
38 armored combat vehicles
24 artillery pieces
2 multiple rocket launchers
41 drones
1 cruise missile
52 other vehicles.
Across the entire front,
98 ground battles were reported.
And the ratio of the number of losses of Ukrainian equipment to Russian losses,
which can be visually confirmed,
is 1 to 1.9 compared to the number of losses on the Ukrainian side.
Losses on the Russian side are higher for infantry fighting vehicles,
tanks and armored fighting vehicles,
in that order,
and they attack aggressively.
The Ukrainian losses do not show any particular trend.
This is a short news report about the situation in Ukraine.
You can also use YouTube's chapter feature to watch where you need to.
1.
In yesterday's video,
we reported that France would provide military support,
including sculptured missiles,
hundreds of bombs,
and Caesar self-propelled artillery,
and we have more details about the "bombs".
According to Defense Express,
the "AASM" is very likely.
The "AASM" air-to-ground modular weapon,
developed by the French company Sagem,
is a kit that attaches a guidance system to an unguided bomb and can be mounted on conventional 250 kg bombs as well as on 1,000 kg bombs with greater explosive power.
Its main feature is its rocket motor,
which gives it a range of more than 100 kilometers when dropped from high altitude,
and when dropped from low altitude,
the rocket motor allows it to gain altitude before hitting enemy targets,
ensuring the destruction of long-range targets from the safety of low altitude.
It also features GPS,
inertial and thermal imaging guidance with a 1-meter margin of error,
and has been used in the past in Afghanistan and Libya with a reported 99% effectiveness.
It can currently be installed on Rafale,
F16,
and Mirage 2000 aircraft,
and with a recently developed stand-alone system,
it is believed that it could be integrated into Ukrainian aircraft with only minor modifications.
Second.
Bloomberg calculated from official Russian documents that the Kremlin has spent almost half of its National Welfare Fund on the war in Ukraine,
halving the reserve from 9 trillion rubles ($14 trillion) before the war to 5 trillion rubles ($8 trillion),
according to the report.
The National Welfare Fund pools a portion of Russia's oil revenues,
but Bloomberg reported that the fund has been depleted to fill the financial hole caused by falling oil prices and the conduct of the war.
Experts expect the fund to be depleted in another year or two,
depending on the price of Russian oil exports,
and Russian Finance Minister Siluanov said that if the state budget is not balanced,
the fund will run out and "Russians will be penniless.
To add insult to injury,
India has issued an ultimatum.
India,
which has been buying Russian crude oil,
presented three conditions for buying oil from Russia at the Davos meeting: Russia must bear all the risks and costs of transporting the oil to India.
Russia would bear all the risks and costs of transporting the oil to India; ▪ It would abide by the $60 export price ceiling set by Western countries; and
Russia would also offer an additional discount.
After Europe,
India,
which is considered a friend of Russia,
is likely to drastically reduce its purchases of Russian oil.
Now,
here is the war situation in each region.
I will tell you where the war situation is changing.
Northeast: Luhansk region
Eastern part,
towards Bakhmut
We will report on the war situation on the Svatove-Kreminna line from Halkiu and Kupyansk,
and from the Sibersk area to Bakhmut.
In this area,
the Russians launched 17 attacks on Terny,
Yampolivka,
Makiivka,
Torske,
Serebryansky Forest,
Bilohorivka and Vesere,
and 9 attacks on Bakhmut,
all of which were repulsed by Ukrainian forces.
Ukrainian military spokesman Ficho reported that "the enemy is being forced to change its operations in this direction," and Kharkiv Governor Sinevbov reported that "the Russian army is waiting for the ground to freeze completely due to persistent subzero temperatures" and may launch offensive operations in late January or early February.
There has been movement in Bilohorivka.
In Bilohorivka,
Russian military activity has been active in recent days,
with Ukrainian forces conducting drone strikes on roads leading north,
reducing the strength of Russian forces.
The following image from a day ago shows a Ukrainian drone observing Russian infantry at the location of the battle map.
Yesterday,
the Russian military launched three airstrikes on the city and shelled it to block the movement of the Ukrainian army.
A Ukrainian tank and a mobile Cossack vehicle were destroyed near the battle map.
They then launched a ground assault northeast of the town and advanced to the outskirts.
Bilohorivka is a fortress that has repelled numerous Russian attacks,
This location was recaptured by Ukrainian forces last August and December,
but the battle map has been updated to show that Russian forces have partially occupied the area.
Southeastern Donetsk Oblast.
The weather in Avdiivka is cloudy.
The minimum temperature is -10 degrees Celsius and the maximum is -1 degrees Celsius.
Today's weather forecast is for rain.
Below is an update on the situation in Avdiivka,
Marinka and Vuhledar.
Avdiivka area
The Russians have launched 20 attacks in the Avdiivka area and 15 attacks on Pervomaiske and Neveleske.
Since the beginning of this year,
the Russians have dropped 250 glide bombs on Avdiivka and its surroundings,
followed by a ground war,
but in the end the Ukrainian army defended itself and the battle map remained unchanged.
Marinka area
The Russians launched 17 attacks on Krasnohorivka,
Heolyivka,
Marinka,
and Novomihailivka,
north of Marinka,
which were also defended by Ukrainian forces,
leaving the battle map unchanged.
South,
Zaporizhia province.
Most reports,
however,
are of small-scale positional fighting in this area,
Among them,
west of Belbove,
according to the video of positions,
Ukrainian troops advanced about a kilometer along the border forest.
What we are showing you is the video from the Russian side showing the Ukrainian military positions.
This location was reoccupied by the Russians on December 30,
and the battle map has been updated to show that Ukrainian forces have retaken part of this area.
South,
Kherson province.
The Russians have suffered heavy losses,
but continue to inflict damage by attacking the Ukrainian bridgehead at Krinky.
Location-based video shows a Russian paratrooper BMD4 infantry fighting vehicle being repelled by a Ukrainian drone strike on a building on the battle map.
Analysis of the same video shows that Ukrainian forces are cutting off Russian forces at a location on the battle map west of Krinky,
and that they are being attacked further west than before,
so there is no change in the battle map at this time,
but the Russian forces may not be able to maintain their strength and are being pushed back.
In addition,
the Russians have been waging an information war for the past few days and have begun to assert their claim to occupy Krinky,
so it is possible that the Russians are having a difficult time in that regard as well.
Other.
There have been a number of breakdowns in Russian civil aviation,
but the frequency of these breakdowns has gradually increased.
Russia's Popeda Airlines experienced three breakdowns in a six-hour period on the same day,
the first of which was a fire detected in the landing gear at Chepoksar airport,
which was investigated and found to be a sensor failure,
but delayed for more than 11 hours for confirmation.
Another was a speed-trim failure on a Moscow-Parnaul flight from Omsk,
resulting in loss of autopilot control and an emergency landing at a nearby airport,
A Moscow-Ufa flight had to make an emergency landing because of a burning smell coming from the lavatory.
Due to Western sanctions,
Russian airlines are unable to obtain spare parts for their aircraft,
and Aeroflot has also drawn attention to the poor maintenance of the asphalt and taxiway lights on the runway,
so a major accident could occur at any time.
That's all for today.
Thank you for watching.
