Situation in Ukraine
652 days after the Russian invasion of Kyiv,
we start with general matters.

According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,
the losses of Russian troops are,

1120 soldiers
18 tanks
26 armored fighting vehicles
21 artillery pieces
0 multiple rocket launchers
0 air defense systems
33 drones
1 cruise missile
32 other vehicles.

Across the entire front,
there were 97 reports of ground fire in a single day.

In addition to Avdiivka,
Russian forces are aggressively attacking the Kremina neighborhood,
Bakhmut,
and
other areas in preparation for the December 14 day of direct talks with President Putin.

The ratio of the number of equipment losses of the Ukrainian army to those of the Russian army,
which can be visually confirmed,
is 1 to 1.7,
which is 1.7 times the number of losses on the Russian side compared to the Ukrainian side.

Here is a brief news report on the situation in Ukraine.
You can also use the YouTube chapter feature to watch where necessary.

1st.
Defense Minister Umerov appeared on a Fox News interview program to discuss the upcoming war in Ukraine.

Fox News is Republican-leaning,
and
the title of the interview was "Has Ukraine Stalled?" but it was,

In it,
Defense Minister Umerov said,
"It is thanks to Western security support that
we have been able to liberate half of the territory occupied by Russia since last February,
" and
added,
"The Ukrainian military has plans for the march into next year.
Procurement,
planning,
and
operations are all based on NATO standards,
and
the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's priority is NATO membership,
" he said,
indicating that
the country will continue to act to regain its territory.

Second.
The Levada Center,
an independent Russian research institute,
conducted a public opinion poll prior to the "Direct Line" event with President Putin on December 14.

According to the results,
the three main questions that
the Russian public would like to ask President Putin are: special military operations (21%),
pensions,
and
social programs (8% each).

Based on the results of another poll,
the Institute for the Study of War also noted that
"the Kremlin is trying to curb anti-war and
mobilization protests,
but a growing percentage supports the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine,
and
more than half of respondents want peace talks with Ukraine."

Third.
With Finland's closure of the Russian border,
Middle Eastern and
African migrants that
Russia tried to send to Finland
were now commandeered by the Russian military and
sent to Ukraine.

According to the BBC,
Russian border guards began detaining refugees at the Finnish border in mid-November,
and
in the past month the number of convictions for immigration violations has skyrocketed to 236.

The BBC interviewed migrants on condition of anonymity,
and
one migrant,
after being detained by police,
asked in the detention center,
"Would you like to work for Russia?" When he asked what kind of work it was,
he was told that
it was "an easy and
lucrative job,
" but he withheld his answer.

The next day,
"I saw all the other migrants
who had signed the papers being put on
buses and sent to the Ukrainian border,"
he said.

Now,
here is the war situation in each region.
I will tell you where the war situation has changed.

Northeast - in the direction of Luhansk Oblast
Eastern part,
toward Bakhmut

In this sector,
the Russians attacked 8 times at Shinkivka and
Novoselivske,
26 times in and
around the Serebryansky Forest,
and
10 times at Bakhmut,
most of which were repulsed by Ukrainian forces.

Kupyansk Area

Between Ivanivka and
Yahidne,
the fighting was fierce as both armies closed the gap in an attempt to advance.

According to the positional video,
Ukrainian troops advanced at the location on the battle map,
repulsing four tanks that
tried to attack them.

Initially,
Russian tanks attacked,
but the Ukrainian troops counterattacked in the middle of the battle,
and
the Russian tanks withdrew with smoke pouring out of them,
and
soldiers are seen abandoning their tanks and
walking back.

The Russian tanks had the disadvantage that
they could not return without making a large detour because of their slow backward movement,
and
the Ukrainian army took advantage of this weakness to launch its attack.

The image shown here is from the Ukrainian side,
and
is a view of the battle situation.

We have updated the map to show this area from Russian-occupied and
disputed territory,
with Ukrainian forces recapturing a portion of the area.

Bakhmut Area

The Russians are constantly sending soldiers north and
south of Bakhmut and
are repeatedly assaulting the city.

Soldier Babichev of the 93rd Mechanized Brigade appeared on Ukrainian television to describe the situation on the front lines.

The weather was clear and
perfect for shelling and
drone strikes.

The Russians have the superior number of soldiers and
are carrying out air strikes and
infantry assaults.

1st.
Between Bohodanivka and
Hryhorivka,
the Russians advanced after shelling to the line of communication between Bohodanivka and
Hryhorivka.

The Russians first had their mobilized troops assault and
probe the weak points in the Ukrainian defenses,
then determined the point of attack based on how they were hit,
followed by artillery and
air strikes,
and
then advanced with airborne and
other highly skilled troops.
This is exactly the assault tactic that
Wagner used at Bakhmut.

The video shown here is from the Russian side,
near the battle map.
The Ukrainian forces are resisting,
but they appear to be overwhelmed by the sheer volume of their forces.

The war map has been updated to show that
Russian troops have occupied this area.
The area is about 3 square kilometers.

2nd.
Also,
in the residential area south of the gas station in the city of Bakhmut,
Russian troops began attacking around December 4 in the direction of Ivanivske,
capturing half of the residential area.

Russian forces have been attacking further west in an attempt to advance further.

We have updated the war map of this area as occupied by Russian forces from the Ukrainian recaptured area.

The area is about 1 square kilometer.

3rd.
In addition,
the Russians advanced in the forests north of Klishchiivka and
established control in the forests leading to the high ground near the battle map.

This is to the rear of the Russian advance on December 3,
which was heavily shelled by the Russians.

Southeastern Donetsk Oblast

Weather in Avdiivka is cloudy.
The minimum temperature is -4 degrees Celsius and
the maximum is 0 degrees Celsius.
Today's weather forecast is cloudy with occasional snow

The following is an update on the situation in the direction of Avdiivka,
Marinka,
and
Vuhledar.

Avdiivka area

The Russians have made 25 attacks in this area.

The ground is beginning to freeze after the muddy period,
and
in addition to infantry assaults,
the Russians have resumed the use of armored vehicles.

Yefrel,
a soldier in the Ukrainian army,
appeared on television to describe the front in Avdiivka,

The Russians have placed their soldiers in different parts of the front line so that
they do not know where they will strike from,
" he said,

A Russian military blogger reported that
"50 days after the attack,
the corpses of Russian soldiers killed in action are so decomposed that
they cannot advance without walking over or over the corpses,
thus hindering Russian military operations and,
above all,
demoralizing the Russian soldiers.

1st.
Russian troops made another assault on the entrance to Stepove on this day,
which was repulsed by Ukrainian troops.

Three T80 tanks and
a MTLB armored fighting vehicle were repulsed on this day,
at least visually.

Second.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that
the Russians were relentlessly assaulting north of the coal plant we reported on yesterday,
and
that
they took over the plant site as the Ukrainian troops ran out of ammunition and
retreated.

Other axes of attack were also defended by Ukrainian forces on this day,
with no success for the Russians.

Marinka Area

In this sector,
the Russians launched 18 attacks on Marinka and
Novomihailivka,
but the Ukrainian forces repulsed them,
leaving the battle picture unchanged.

Ukrainian forces are still holding parts of Marinka,
and
Russian forces have not been able to occupy all of Marinka.

South,
Zaporizhia Oblast.

In this sector,
combat activity has intensified west of Lobotine,
but there has been no change in the battle map.

Rear Areas
In Russian-occupied areas,
there is information of car explosions in Skadovsk,
Zhankoy,
Berzhansk,
Mariupol,
oil storage facilities in Donetsk,
and
Luhansk.

There is also information that
Ukrainian forces destroyed the latest Russian S350 air defense system with two drones in the Russian-occupied area of Khrson,
although the detailed location is unknown.
The S350 air defense system is the result of a joint South Korean-Russian development project and
became operational in February 2020.

Southern province of Kherson.

Ukrainian forces have extensively destroyed Russian military vehicles with drones,
while Russian forces are conducting airstrikes on Kulinksy,

No information was available that
would affect the war picture.

Other.
According to Forbes,
citing images from social networking sites,

The Russian military is fitting military trucks with blast response armor to increase their survivability.

Explosive reactive armor is designed to deflect anti-tank missiles and
other attacks through explosions and
is usually attached to the outside of armored vehicles to protect the occupants inside.

The image also shows a Russian military Gaz 66 truck with explosion-reactive armor installed,

Forbes notes that
"the Russian military lacks knowledge of the equipment."

That's all for today.
Thank you for watching.
