【2025年旅DAY2】日本に着陸！ / Arriving in Japan!
到着初日は毎回予想が付かないので予定があんまりなかった。でも今日はシンガポールから大阪に飛んで、そして夜は名古屋のホテルにいないといけない。
The day of arrival is always hard to predict so I didn't have many plans. But today I had to fly from Singapore to Osaka, then get to my hotel in Nagoya by the end of the day.
まずはチャンギ空港へ。始発乗ったら8時半の飛行機はまあ多分間に合えそうだったけど、念の為にタクシーを乗った。シンガポールで22ドルだった、悪くない。
But first, to Changi airport. If I'd caught the first train I'd probably still be able to make my 8:30-ish flight, but just in case I took a taxi. It was SGD$22, which was pretty okay.
そして空港で朝ご飯。
Then it was breakfast at the airport.
またヤクン行ってカヤトーストを頼んだ（カヤ中毒になっちゃった）。別にテイクアウト頼んでなかったけど空港だからなのかテイクアウトにしてくれた。
I went to Ya Kun and got kaya toast again (new kaya addict). I didn't ask for takeaway, but I guess because it's an airport they make it takeaway by default.
シンガポールでairaloという会社のeSIMを使ったけど、アジアパックを購入したので関空に着いた瞬間からもネットを使えた。eSIMって便利だな、今後も使うかもしれない。
In Singapore I was using an eSIM company called airalo, and because I purchased an Asia pack I could also use the internet the moment I landed in Osaka. eSIM sure is convenient, I might use it again in the future.
関空に着いたらスーツケースを取って、別のネットを使えるための手段（予約したWi-Fiデバイス）を取りに行った。そして一週間後のために、予約したJRの山陽山陰乗り放題パス（海外客限定）を発券しないといけなかった。
Once I arrived at KIX I picked up my suitcase and my other method of accessing the internet (a Wi-Fi device I ordered). But also, in preparation for a week later, I had to get my JR Sanyo-Sanin pass (foreigners only) printed.
JRのみどりの窓口行ってみたら2列があった。片方は英語で案内しますって、もう片方は日本語で案内しますって。明らかに前者の列が長かったので日本語案内の列に行こうとしたら、本当に日本語を話せるかどうかをチェックしてるようにスタッフさんから「ご用意は何でしょうか」に聞かれた。一瞬ビクッたけどなんとかなった。
When I got to the JR ticket office there were two lines. One served you in English, one served you in Japanese. The former line was clearly much longer so I went for the Japanese line, whereupon a staff member asked what I needed, as though to simultaneously test whether I actually spoke Japanese. That startled me for a bit but it was fine.
窓口で緊張してて変な日本語で発券を頼んでみたら、「全部発券でよろしいですか」って聞かれた。考えずに「はい」って答えたら本当にネットで予約した全部のJR切符が出てきた。全部ってそういうこと！？
At the counter I was nervous and spoke in some awkward Japanese, whereupon I got asked "Would you like them all printed?". I didn't clock what that meant and just said yes, whereupon all the JR tickets I'd booked online got printed at once. That's what you mean by all!?
関空を出るために選択肢は大体2つある。はるか号はJRだしキティちゃんのラッピングもしてるから、外国人にはかなり人気。でもはるか号は僕がいきたい大阪難波駅に止まらないので、もう一つの選択肢を選んだ。
To get out of KIX there's two main ways. The Haruka train is JR and has Hello Kitty wrapping, so it's popular with foreigners. But Haruka doesn't stop at Osaka-Namba which I wanted to get to, so I went with the other option.
南海線のラピート（rapi:t）だ！名前は英語の「rapid」と似ていてドイツ語で「速い」という意味らしいけど、英語的にそのコロンの位置がひどくて最悪な伏せ字になっちゃってる（分かる人は分かる）。
It's the rapi:t on the Nankai line! Apparently it's German and similar to "rapid", but oof that colon placement. They probably took the IPA or something but still oof, unfortunate placement.
窓がデカくてめっちゃ外を見れる。写真ないけど丁度日暮れを見れた。
The windows were huge so I could see outside easily. I don't have a photo but I could see the sunset from the train.
難波に着いたらもう18時になるところだったので、回り道せずにJR線から近鉄線へダッシュした。
By the time I got to Namba it was nearing 18:00, so I dashed from the JR lines to the Kintetsu lines without making any detours.
名古屋に行く手段はこれの予定だった。
My plan to get to Nagoya was originally this.
でもバタバタしてて特急券の購入間に合わなさそうだったので、こっちになった。
But I was in a rush and panicking and didn't think I'd reserve a seat in time, so I ended up going with this.
近鉄特急アーバンライナーだ。見た目はひのとりよりしょぼいけどまあしょうがない。
It's the Kintetsu limited express Urban Liner. It doesn't look as cool as Hinotori, but oh well.
スーツケースどうすればいいかを調べる時間なかったので、デラックスにして隣の席も空いてるところを選んだ。席と席の間が広くてかなりくつろげた。
I didn't have time to check what to do about my suitcase, so I went with deluxe seating and chose a spot where the adjacent seat is also empty. The space between seats was quite wide so it was pretty relaxing.
アーバンライナーはたしかひのとりよりちょっとだけ遅いけどちょっとだけ安かった気がする。でも正直ほぼ同じ。でもグーグルを使って大阪から名古屋への手段を調べたら、どっちも出にくい（新幹線しか出てこない）。まあ新幹線速いしな。
IIRC Urban Liner is a bit slower and a bit cheaper than Hinotori. But tbh they're basically the same. But if you use Google for routes from Osaka to Nagoya, neither really come up (Google basically gives you the shinkansen only). Well I guess the shinkansen is fast after all.
名古屋に着いてコンパスホテルにチェックイン。
Arrived in Nagoya, then checked in at COMPASS HOTEL.
晩ご飯まだだったので夜遅めの一人焼肉@赤から。モツ鍋あったけど2人前からだったらしい。旨辛って丁度の辛さで美味しい。
I hadn't had dinner yet, so I got some solo BBQ-ing in at Akakara. They had motsunabe too but apparently it was from 2 people upwards, damn. The umakara ("tasty spicy") was just the right level of spicy and pretty tasty indeed.
シドニーに一人で焼肉を食べられるところあんまないし高いから、日本に来るとき一人焼肉は大好物（好みはライク）。
One person yakiniku is rare and also expensive in Sydney, so I like to get one person BBQ when I come to Japan now (esp. Yakiniku Like).
そして今日の締めはファミチキ。久しぶり〜〜〜
And some famichiki to end. It's been foreeeeeeeever!
