Wonder Boy: Asha in MonsterWorld / Sound Concept.

When I was assigned to work on sound, the first question I had was "what kind of sound is right for this game?"I pondered deeply.
Will Jin Watanabe-san's MD sound be the same as the sound of a modern synthesizer, or will it be arranged in a completely different atmosphere, or will both be adopted?
Initially, the game screen was barely visible. The expression of the 3D shader and background picture is not fixed, and it changes every time it is updated, which bothered me.
However, "I don't want to have a mechanical (sequencer) sound!" Was the theme of this game.
Because in this game, the details are improved and it becomes natural by making the image 3D, so I want a natural feeling music if I match it. The production started around March of last year (2020), but when I confirmed the conversation in the message chat with Berens (Sound Team) at that time,

"I want the music to have a live feel, so it doesn't have to be a very good performance, all the parts don't have to have the same rhythm, and the rhythm doesn't have to be kept."

I wrote it.

First of all, I wanted to fix the image of the main theme, so I made a detailed proposal to Kaori Nakabai-san and asked her to make 6 patterns. The six songs range from those that follow the FM sound source of MegaDrive to those that consist of unplugged instruments.
Next, I asked Ryuichi Nishizawa-san to check it, consulted and selected one song from there, but I went back to the concept!X-D  So, I recorded my acoustic guitar performance in the soundproof room of the company (pickup + microphone) and added it to the music.
Literally, I myself became "I don't have to be a very good performer" and "I don't have to keep the rhythm." Now, even if I listen to it, the feeling of playing by hand is terrible, "Is this okay?" I thought, but Kaori-san said, "It's okay as it is!", So it was adopted as it is. Then, the overall direction was decided from this one song, and each song was derived.

The series is a follow-up, and the theme song is made to feel country music, but this time it is Very lively. I think that some of the five songs that were not adopted will be attached to something as "unused music sources" in the future.

The score of the header is transcribed by Kaori Nakabai. When playing on a guitar, I think it's a good idea to tune it down a semitone and play Eb as E.

Thank you.
