On The Art of Hokkaido Swindlers as well as The "Dissidentes Falliti" of "White Paper Revolution"
My friend Melanpedius, who is a native of Hokkaido, once told me about an astonishing cunning stratagem in his hometown by the swindlers, which is called "wilderness enterprise"; it's a most ingenious contrivance preying upon the dual human frailties of avarice and hope, which are the very things fed the whole race of charlatans all through history. The scam itself was consisted as below: the swindlers, appearing to be respected real estate developer, convince people to buy lands lying in desolate isolation, bereft of any practicable purpose or likelihood of future worth as "rare and lucrative investments", with the promise of interests in the future. They'd show their victims maps cut into squares, pointing some of them as future shopping malls, some schools, yet some hospitals; they made up project of government, snatching away money from naive wives and husbands. at last, their victims will found their new estate in the very middle of endless wilderness barely more fertile than the surface of moon, while it's impossible even to build anything there, for there's neither a single road nor any means. Such is the scam; Melanpedius told me that so many people, especially non-Hokkaidonians, fell on it, and now, the scam spread out of Japan, finding Chinese as its next preys, meanwhile, the right wing demagogues too were benefited, as they were hurrying to fuel the panic that wicked Chinese are going to purchase whole Japan.
The trick of "Wilderness Enterprise", in my opinion, shed a light on the bankrupt of what people called "White Paper Revolution". As it's commonly known, the Revolution came to the sight of public firstly through the videos collected and posted by Li Ying, a Chinese citizen in Milan, Lombardy. Li later became the godfather of the Revolution, that's to say, the Revolution, in fact, was recognized through him; actually, since that, Li has been working as revealer of whatever news Chinese government tries to cover, with from screeshots of chats to videos he got from anonymous internet users. The Chinese government, as it's asserted to, have been carrying on attacks towards Li, including slander him to be homosexual man or suicidal. thus, also Li complained what harsh life he was living in Italy, with his bank accounts frozen, himself and his family harassed; As Li stated and reported by Italian newspaper, he found the trash he threw away being messed up by unknown person, who, as he thought, was high probably the agent of Chinese regime, cunningly trying to find his address by investigating the trash bins in Milan. all these were the background of the drama happened last week (from 2024.12.24). what happened was quite simple, together with two his compaions, Li made their crypto currency, as in the future to raise up foundation for dissident community and not without payback to the investors. Indeed, there aren't as many miracles in the world as it's supposed to be, the crypto soon collapsed, yet to everyone's surprise, either experienced charlatans or idealist dissidents, someone, or some people, mysteriously sold out the crypto they had at its highest point. In another word, Li and his group were suspected for making 200,000~1,000,000 USD through insider trading, and after that, refused or failed to explain what happened. It was a marvel to the charlatans, because they dare not to suppose anyone would use such plain way to get "δεξίωμα κάλλιστον βροτοῖς: αἰθόμενον γὰρ πῦρ ἅτε διαπρέπεις καὶνύκτωρ καὶ μεθ᾽ ἡμέραν"; the melancholic idealists were also marvelled, because it appears to them to be sacrilegious to suppose dissidents could even be infected with any moral spot. This failure kindled a whole ekpyrosis of disillusionment for the dissidents, not much for the misthotoi, whose own business is not to despair. if i heed not of being considered as a nationalist chatterbox, i would speak frankly how much things changed that within years, it wasn't celebrated to be a decent professional years ago as today, to gain from foreign governments as rewards of contributing in what they'd like to believe about China; on this topic i have already written another article and would like not to talk much; partly, perhaps as nowadays the misthotoi sincerely believe that the foreigners are for the interests of Chinese people, that's to say, a true internationalist paradise of equality, while their enemies, the bloody nationalists, are going to conquer the whole world and build communist slavery: thus they aren't ashamed of getting whatever from foreigners, for the sake of welfare of the humanity, including Chinese. Surely it could be delusional for dissidents to suggest that the change in China for a brighter future could happen completely independently; as although I have done a thousand of slanders on the wretched dissidents, nevertheless I’m one of them and I never regard the leaders of Chinese regime to be anything beside traitors and bandits of people; however, the cause of dissidents should never be fulfilled by pleading to be the dishonorable role in the western millennial kingdom narrative. China is called a “country which doesn’t accept the current situation” not for, as those involuntary or voluntary simpletons suppose, that Chinese people are brainwashed to lose themselves and serve some kind of wicked secret plan of the regime to destroy the progressing of the “free world”, but for that the so-said current situation is neither of justice nor of profound root; people like Li Ying try quite hard to reveal and agitate the horror that Chinese people happen to speak evil about foreigners, not support or support Israel or Palestine, get angry at the divinization of war criminals who have done massacre in China, and other thousands reasons, in short, Chinese people do whatever other peoples do.
As in his manifesto on 2025.1.8 ending with his rhetoric question “of all, is it even true that all these should come to failure?”, Li claimed that all he was to do was but to raise money for a democratic community to change China by the means of freedom of press, and he still referred the cause of this unfortunate outcome as the “idea” which is supposed to be believed by his followers. The dissidents, most god-forsaken people of all, are like what Merlin Cocaio the poet told about the pisces lanigeri, that how the whole flock eagerly followed to drown when its leader was thrown into the sea; they are spurred either by a supposed idea or the ultimate negation of any idea, the luckiest of them end up skilled trechedeipnoi hurrying to Geneva, Los Angeles, Toronto and random restaurant in Tokyo the owner of which openly states Chinese people carry virus and thus shuns them out of his business; then the simpletons, while the most struggle to become simpleton or puffed up so much by the thought that they are the only wise men who discovered themselves to be scorta diobolaria and satisfied with it as it’s obliged to socialized gentlemen. Yet still, the most wretched among the wretch are the people who, instead of believing the possibility for themselves to be idealist and honest, expect the same quality in vain on others. Verily they are the people of dream and loyalists to their own doom. One of such people is Huang Yicheng, who is a classicist by occupation, but an exile of “white paper revolution” as he identifies himself. Huang is an example of what the Russians call божий человек and who is not supposed to be offended; from his comments to the scandal of Li Ying, we observe this man who had his heart scattered, because it appeared to be a great scandal to him, that American money for the welfare of China people—as it’s supposed by him—was spent on the activists for Chinese freedom instead of on Chinese freedom; then, Li, a.k.a. our Chinese Navalny, after suffering all kinds of adversities of mortals in Italy, unwillingly, had to become a crypto currency scammer. Huang, as he said himself, being advocate for the revolution for 2 years, now have but “void” in his mind.
The problem of such white paper veterans is, on the one hand, they must not suppose that behaving as if there was a revolution doesn’t make a real revolution; on the other hand, they cannot rely on foreigners by supposing that they are easily deceived and so philanthropic as would be responsible for supplies until there should be a real revolution. That’s to say, people of all positions must accept the situation that “White Paper Revolution” was a stillborn, a failure which has become a shameful failure due to the nativity and greedy of its guardians; the exiles sold it too soon to the foreigners who expected another living show of what happened in Eastern Europe and were mysteriously obsessed with Milan Kundera. They were so exited at the discovering of the white paper, just like a 12-year-old in Wakkanai, Hokkaido may be excited with the first Lawson shop which is everywhere in other parts of Japan but he has never saw in his real life in the small hyperborean town. People like Chen Pinlin, ominously pen-named Plato, who shipwrecked during his fourth Syracuse voyage and recently sentenced, and many of them are not clever, unfortunately paid the price of revolution, of which mottled shape they’d hardly recognize, should one day they regain their freedom: the foreigners are but one irresponsible Procrustes, who stretched their affected limbs in all directions to meet the taste of curious westerners about new-coming oriental revolution, and afterwards, they were left in between the irons to groan and to be exhibited. The exiles handed out those deadmen together with many diverse things supposed to consist a revolution in the scenario of the foreigners, as reward, they gained their mean role on this stage. With either Li or Huang, the mistake is the very point that they believe they can make a revolution by preparing the infrastructures and then to attract people to it. However, it becomes a gloomy satire when there are two groups, one fabricating the revolution, the other consuming in the manner that young kids believe in Santa. Out of this kind of laziness or stupidity, we end up lamenting we sold our own children, namely the Revolution, to the alternative pornography producers unintentionally and even we are cutting ourselves in pieces to be seasoned and sold, for the vain hope of an adult Revolution as strong as photoshopped historical ones.
It’s not wrong to say we held a great thrill and a feast, we gained more bureaucrats of democracy and priests of liberty younger in age and multiple in gender, namely, people achieved everything except what they vowed to.
