イディオム: be over the hump

ゴールに向かって行う一連の作業、工程、プロジェクトなどのなかで一番難しそうに思えていた箇所を無事に越えたから、きっとここからは少し楽になっていくだろう、というのが伝わる表現。

The team members expected the project was going to be difficult. In fact, it was quite challenging. However, when we were over the hump, the rest was smooth and easy. 

The negotiation with the vendor has been difficult, but we are finally over the hump. The rest is a matter of tying up the loose ends.  

The patient's critical condition is over the hump. If his fever stays down, he should recover in a couple of weeks. 

Now that we have reached this point, let's consider we are over the hump and move on to the next project.

My son is over the hump with his dissertation; he will soon be a doctorate.
