短編映画 改め 映画制作日記 #12 「またやってしまった。。。」 | Production Notes #12 "I've been doing it again...”

The finalized script arrived in the mail as a script. Oh, I did it again. 3 years ago, when I made my first feature film, it was supposed to be a 30-minute short film, but it turned out to be a 90-minute feature before we started shooting. The Niigata film two years ago started out as four 5-minute shorts, but turned out to be an 80-minute feature film. This time it's going to be okay! I told Moriguchi, the producer, who was worried about the future of this project, and started to work on the script with Miyoshi, the scriptwriter. The finished script was 78 pages long. There is a rule of thumb that each page of a script should be about one minute long. If this guideline was correct, the film would be about 80 minutes long. I don't think there will be any producers who will trust me anymore. But I want to make it, so I have no choice! I made an impassioned excuse, but it turned out that I was a liar as usual. The assistant director, Ichi, and the assistant cinematographer, Gunji, did their best to read the script out loud and even simulated it. The result was that the film was over 70 minutes long even when read quickly. I had no choice but to resign myself to it. The assistant director, Ichi, made sure that we shot the film in the order of the script. The local staff at the location were working hard to get the scenes shot on a budget. Ohhhh, I'm sorry to all the people involved. I have no excuses. There is only one thing I can say right now. I will make a good movie.

決定稿になった脚本が台本になって届いた。ああ、またやってしまった。3年前に初めて長編映画を作った時、はじめは30分の短編映画だったはずが撮影に入る前には90分の長編になっていた。2年前の新潟の映画もはじめは5分のショートムービーを4本つくります！と言っていたのに出来上がったものは80分の長編映画になっていた。今度は大丈夫！と今回の行く末を心配するプロデューサーの森口にそう言い放って脚本家の三好さんと脚本を練り始めて。。。出来上がった台本は78ページ。台本というのは1ページ約1分という目安がある。この目安が合っているとしたらこの映画は80分くらいの長編になるという計算になる。もう僕を信用してくれるプロデューサーもいなくなるだろう。だって撮りたいんだから仕方がないじゃないか！と熱い言い訳をしたところで、毎度の嘘つき監督ということになる。助監督の市と撮影助手の軍司の二人が一生懸命台本を早口で読んでシミュレーションまでしてくれた。結果は早口で読んでも70分を超えるというものだった。もう腹を括るしかない。助監督の市が香盤をできるだけ順撮り(台本の順番通りに撮影すること)に組んでくれている。ロケ地の現地スタッフがあれこれと予算を抑えてもシーンを撮り切れるよう工夫してくれている。あああああ、関係者の方々すみません。言い訳もしません。僕に今言えることは一言だけ。いい映画にします。
