My classes in Indonesia

    In this time, I want to post 'note' in English. Why I thought so? Because I want not only Japanese but also Indonesian and other people to know what I do in Indonesia. Before I move on to the next, please forgive my English.

   The theme is about the classes I take in this country, as title. I will show my classes in the following.

1. Mon 9:00-12:00: Tourism Business
2. Tue 9:00-12:00: Supply Chain Management
3. Wed 8:00-12:00: Business Model and System development
4. Thu 7:30-10:30: Technology Based Business
5. Fri 11:00-12:30: Bahasa Indonesia

   However, we cannot get credit from Bahasa Indonesia. So, I actually have 4 classes which I can get credit. As you can see, all of the classes start in the morning and finish until noon because I want to make the habit of waking up in the morning and make free time after the class. Also, the factors when I decided the classes are the following;

1. Can discuss with other students
2. Can practice business actually
3. Person
4. Interest

   About 1, the reason I chose this university is I can join the group discussion. Actually, I was feeling bored in Japan to just hear what a lecturer says, so I don’t want to take the classes so that I can take the classes I can take in Japan. There are a few group discussion classes in Japan. So, I came here, in this university, Indonesia. 

   About 2, I’m interested in business and want to start my own business in the future. If I can’t do what I want to do or can’t earn enough money, I am going to start business. It’s necessary to learn how to start and operate business, to start our own business. In my class, we listen to the logic in the first half of the class, and then we separate each group, we can ask a mentor and discuss each other. Therefore, we can learn both the logic and practice in the same class. 

   Also, about 3, person who take the same class with me is very important to learn efficiently and get credit. Actually, I take the classes which there are some Japanese or friendly Indonesian students. If I fail to get credit, I can’t expect after I come back to Japan… 

   Finally, it’s very important to take the classes which I’m interested in. It is the most priority of all factors. This is the same with when I was in Japan. I don’t want to change this way of thinking in Indonesia. 

   From now, I’m going to introduce the detail of classes as I described above.

   At first, about Tourism Business, we discuss tourism in Indonesia and find out the problems of Indonesian tourism and how to solve the problems. However, because a lecturer is so kind and friendly to students, we can be relaxed to tackled with this class. This means the class is easy to get credit and the contents are also interesting. And I could experience field trip to the festival which one village hold. Thanks to the field trip, I could make many friends in the class and experience the customs of people who live there. Especially, we foreign people can’t experience the village’s festivals as long as we search a lot. 

   Supply Chain Management class is the most difficult class of all classes I take in this semester. This is because we use Excel and have to calculate difficult methods, what’s more, a lecturer teaches so fast!! As a matter of course, I can’t follow the lecturer. But she is kind of me and there are many students who are kind, friendly, and they help me a lot. This class is the most useful and favorite class though it’s too difficult. 

   On every Wednesdays, I have Business Model and System Development at 8:00. I chose this class because in this class, we can practice actual business separated by groups. I actually can’t contribute to my group completely so far, but I’m willing to cooperate with them. Our goal in this term is to generate sales or make profits. To achieve this, each group is doing hard. At first part, we listen to the lecture to learn how to do business and learn the logic. And then, we separate and can ask a mentor about our business. The mentor also gives us some advice. Some of the mentors speak Indonesian language, my mentor also… Fortunately, my group members are so kind and care about me, so they tell me what the mentor say and ask me question if I have some questions or not. Therefore, I can exist the group comfortably. 

   On Thursdays, I have Technology Based Business class at 7:30-10:30. As you know, it starts so early!! But I have two reasons why I chose this class. One is that, as I said above, I wanted to make a custom that I wake up at early time. Actually, in Japan, I woke up at 7:30 when I had 1 period class. I couldn’t expect I take a class which starts so early. But because of it, I can keep healthy body and mind. Also, the last reason is that the content is similar with what I do in my seminar (ask me about my seminar later if you want to know). Also, this class is collaborated with Business Model and System Development class. In this class, after we learn the logic about technology, we move to each classroom to listen to small class and get some advice from some mentors. But they speak Indonesian language, so I don’t like this mentor class. Don’t misunderstand, I like the lecture and the mentors.
