おいしい山形空港

毎年この季節にさくらんぼを食べに山形に行く。新幹線だと３時間近くかかるので１時間の飛行機を使うことが多い。飛行機は「おいしい山形空港」に着陸するのだが、ネーミングがどうかなと思っていた。さくらんぼの名所の東根にあるので「さくらんぼ空港」の方がわかりやすのにと思っていた。しかし毎年行くうちに山形に行ったらさくらんぼはもちろん、山形牛もいいなぁ、蕎麦もいいなぁ、羊も美味しいらしい、さらに酒田に足を伸ばして寿司もいいなぁなんて考えるように。食事タイミングを増やすためにとうとう今年は２泊のツアーになった。もし「さくらんぼ空港」だったらさくらんぼでおしまいだったけれど、無意識の「おいしい山形空港」のネーミングの効果かもしれない。（絵と文：サカキテツ朗）
Every year I go to Yamagata to eat cherries this season. The Shinkansen takes nearly 3 hours, so I often use an hour's flight. The plane landed at "Tasty Yamagata Airport", but I was wondering what the naming was. Since it is located in Higashine, a famous place for cherries, I thought that "cherry airport" would be easier to understand. Every time going to Yamagata, I should think that not only cherries but also Yamagata beef, soba, sheep are delicious, and if I go to Sakata I can eat sushi. It was a two-night tour this year to increase the timing of meals. If it was "cherry airport", it would have ended with cherries, but it may be the effect of the unconscious naming of "delicious Yamagata airport". -Text and illustration by Ted Sakaki
