『The Giver』thoughts of book※contains spoilers
At first, when I read this book, I felt it was so hard to understand for using difficult words everywhere and expressing unreal world. But the more I continue to read, the more I was into this weird story and then I started to feel frightened by extraordinary society.
People who live in this community don’t recognize the fact that they don’t have freedom. And somethimes they blame others who don’t keep disciplines which are made by the society, without knowing that its regulations have been robbing them of freedom for choosing.
This story is un impossible world, of course, but I think we have experienced similar situations in real world. we sometimes give up what we want to do due to that we assume peer pressure to be strict regulations.
If I lived in the community and were given the predetermined job, I would want to be chosen as a engineer or a just laborer. Because I couldn’t stand to “release” people who aren’t needed, even if it’s the assignment that the community gave me as a role.
