1 [orientational metaphor],[方向性のメタファー]
In the use of language, there is such an expression called "figurative expression". And, it seems that, there are two styles of the expression, one called [simile], and, the other called [metaphor].
言語の使用において、「比喩表現」と呼ばれているような表現があり、比喩表現には、[直喩(simile)]と呼ばれるスタイルのものと、[隠喩（metaphor）]と呼ばれるスタイルのものが、あるようだ。
Among [metaphor], there seems to be something, called [orientational metaphor].
This seems to be a matter, that became known to many people, through [Ref. 1].
The following is a quote from [Ref. 2], p. 20, ( translated by runningWater, me. This document is described in Japanese ).

A orientational metaphor is a kind of "spatialization metaphor,"
that conceptualizes,
inherently non-spatial experiences, such as,
psychological states, emotions, quantities, dominance, and values of right and wrong,
as
"above and below", or other positional relationships.

[隠喩(metaphor)] の中に、[方向性のメタファー(orientational metaphor)]と呼ばれているものが、含まれているようだ。

2 Cause of [occurrence of [orientational metaphor]], [方向性のメタファー]が発生した原因
Such [orientational metaphor] have occurred, since humans began using language. A remarkable research presentation was made in October 2019 (Ref. 3) ,that suggests the cause of this phenomenon.
人類が言語を使い始めて以降に、このような[方向性のメタファー]が発生した。その原因を示唆するような、注目すべき研究成果発表が、2019年10月に行われた(Ref. 3(文献3))。
According to the study,
Babies judge, as follows,
One who stands on upper position (in terms of physical position) has the advantage.
That is,
Pre-verbal infants bind,
[spatial upper/lower]
and
[social upper/lower]
その研究によれば、
[赤ちゃんは
[(物理的な位置関係において) 上に立っている者は 優位である]
と 判断する]
すなわち、
[前言語期の乳児は
[[空間的 上下] と [社会的 上下]
とを 結びつける]

Already at a stage, when humans cannot yet speak,
it is possible that,
humans are already able
to connect
concepts related to
[altitude], such as [upper/lower], [above/below]
with
other concepts.

連結するような事
が、できている可能性がある
If
such things are happening to [human infants, who have not yet acquired language],
then,
it is possible that,
it happens to non-human animals, too.
言語をまだ獲得できていない人間の幼児に、そのような事が起こっているのならば、
人間以外の動物にも、そのような事が起こっている
という可能性があるのだ。
