休職から天職｜From vacation to vocation

Give a voice to your vocation and feel the release of a vacation.

「天職はどうやって見つけるのですか？」とChatGPTに質問をしてみた。それが答えた５つのポイントは以下だ。

　なるほど、これは典型的なアドバイスである。私もこのステップを踏んできたが、加えるとしたら「天啓に導かれる」だろう。

　Well, this is typical advice. I have also followed this step-by-step approach. But if I had to add something, it would be ”be guided by revelation”.

　あるクライアントさんが、自分でビジネスをしていくために、新しく資格を取得しようと思っていると話していた。私は、長期休暇中に趣味になったものを、人のためにも生かしていくのだろうと思っていたので思わず、「それって天職ですか？」と聞いてみた。すると、「天職です」と即答で答え返ってきたので、そう理解して、そのまま対話を進めていった。結局、趣味を仕事にしてしまうと楽しめなくなるかもしれないという理由だという。いずれにしても、自分でビジネスをやっていくには、ファンがつくかどうかが大事になってくる。今後、そのためのアクションも必要になってくるという話をして、20分間のセッションが終わった。

　One client told me that she was thinking of getting a new qualification to run her own business. I had thought she would take what started as a hobby during her long vacation and apply it to her business, so I couldn't help asking, "Is that a vocation?" She replied immediately, "It’s a vocation.", so I understood and we continued the dialogue. After all, she said, if I turn my hobby into a job, I might not be able to enjoy my hobby. In any case, to run a business on your own, it is important to have fans. The 20-minute session ended with a discussion about what to do in the future, saying that actions will also be needed to achieve this.


　セッションのあと、クライアントさんからメールが来た。「セッション後、趣味についての発信で、ファンを作ることがしっくりくると思いました。そして、自分のブログの管理画面をチェックしたら、宇宙からメッセージが来ていました」と書いてあり、「777」の写真が私に送られてきた。エンジェルナンバー 777 の意味は、ChatGPTによると以下である。

Then I checked my blog's admin and I got a message from the Universe". And a photo of ”777” was sent to me. The meaning of angel number 777, according to ChatGPT, is as follows.

　Purpose or mission: 777 may be related to your life purpose or mission. It could be guiding you in the direction you need to go to fulfill your soul's purpose.

　セッションでの答えのようだった。長年この仕事をやっていると、相手の言葉が、内なる声かどうか？判別できるようになる。

This seemed to be the answer in the session. Having been doing this job for many years, I can sense if what they are saying is their inner voice or not.

　そして、クライアントさんにメッセージを送った。「天職は、自分が困難に直面したときに、目の前に現れるもので、自分から見つけていないものだと思います」と。

I then sent a message to my client. “I believe that your vocation is something that appears in front of you when you face difficulties and you haven't found it in yourself”.

　私も思い返してみれば、アパレル店長として売上アップできずに困っていたとき、「コーチング」の本を、マクドナルド時代の上司から頂いた。最初はピンとこなかったのだが、あとからアパレルの社長に言われたアドバイスから、「私には傾聴のスキルが必要だ」と気づき、そう言えば、コーチングの本をすでにもらっていたことに気づいたのだ。

　Looking back, when I was having trouble increasing sales as an apparel shop manager, my boss at McDonald's gave me a book about coaching. At first, it didn't ring a bell, but later, based on advice from the apparel CEO, I realized that I needed listening skills, and come to think of it, I had already received a book about coaching.

　『置かれた場所で咲きなさい』という本がある。今の環境が自分の花を咲かせるために最良であると受け入れることが、今、自分のやるべきことに気づきを与えてくれるのだろう。

　There is a book called ”Bloom where you are put”. Accepting that your current environment is the best place for you to bloom and you will realize what you need to do in your life.

　つまり天職は、困難に直面したとき、まだ自分の中で見つけられていないときに、目の前に現れることがあるのだ。自分の本当の目的に沿えば、仕事にやりがいと喜びを見いだし、成功は自然とついてくるものかもしれない。宇宙に感謝！

■編集後記

英語で天職をcallingというけれど、vocationのほうが上位にでてきたので、そちらを使用してメルマガを書いていきました。それにしてもvacationと一文字違いなので、簡単に新しい単語が覚えられました。なので、あまり気に留めていなかったのですが、英会話の先生が私の話を一通り聞いて一言「つまり、ヴァケーション中にヴォケーションをみつけたということだね」とニヤリ。(笑)まさにそう！ゆっくりすることって、大事なことですね。焦りのないときに選んだものこそ、自分の内側とつながっているのでしょう。そしてこのタイトルをつけてくれました。日本語にうまく訳せたでしょうか？(笑)
