On midsummer days when the heat is sweltering, there are certain songs that I feel compelled to listen to. This is one, from the 1960s album “Nefertiti,” the final acoustic album released by Miles Davis in his golden era. The unstable tension. The unexpected ending chords. The repressed coolness that penetrates throughout. The more I repeat this, the more my brain melts, and I no longer care about the heat. My rendition is on a 1966 Fender Jaguar.
