Asia steps up in Climate Change
【アジア企業がようやくESG開示に前進。過去からすると、アジア企業のキャッチアップ速度は早い。注目企業ピックアップ!】

Asia Companies are finally getting serious on Climate Change: Bloomberg today reports Asian companies were ahead of North American counterparts on 9 out of 11 climate- reporting metrics covered in TCFD's last status report in Oct, which surveys 1,700 global companies.
- Who are the leaders? - Firms including Samsung Electronics Co., Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. and CLP are early movers on climate-risk reporting, whilst laggards are generally more domestic-oriented firms that don’t have a lot of international investors.
- Even state-owned enterprises are changing - Many of Asia's large corporations are state linked, but we're witnessing push from the government, such as stock exchanges from HK and Thailand mandating ESG disclosures.
- History says Asia moves fast - “European and North American investors started this journey on sustainable investment and responsible investment a lot earlier”. However, “Asia’s always had a history of catching up very quickly and leapfrogging because they’re very pragmatic.” (Asia Investor Group on climate Change (AIGCC)).
